Keep in mind, Garnett was the first player drafted straight out of high school since Moses Malone. So there was a lot of concern about maturity, ability to adjust to the superstar lifestyle, etc.

Add that to Magic Johnson having just retired from contracting HIV, and I think what Isiah was saying was actually pretty reasonable.

kg was always kinda mature for his age. i think ppl knew that coming in.
whatever isiah has done, you know he knows talent with some of the guys he's picked - but at the same times, many of them are mentally weak - go figure.
