I remember seeing him on the Sixers from a game last year and Chuck mentioned he was one of their assistants.

Hakeem owes us bigtime. I was going to say Charles Oakley but I realized that you just can't teach grit and determination which is all Oak had. You either have it or you don't. Andrea evidently doesn't.

How about Paul Silas ?

Former NBA coach who was always thought of as a good big man coach.

I'd like Divac.
Laimbeer sounds good.
My darkhorse would be Tom Chambers.

Chambers had more of a face the basket game. I'd like to see the Raps hire the player from the 80s who had the best, most creative, most-moves low post game of all - if only he would get fired as T-Wolves GM/Pres.

Vlade Divac for Bargs

Post#25 » by Respect » Thu Jan 24, 2008 12:55 pm

This is a suggestion. Since the Raps are searching for a big man coach, I suggest Vlade for the following reasons:

1. Came to the NBA as a young euro big & learned the hard way under the teaching of Magic & Kareem.
2. Had a very productive career as a tough & crafty big who could see the floor, pass, score, rebound, & was a major impact on his teams.
3. Has only been retired for 2-3 years now so he is still in tune with the current NBA game & players.

BRING VLADE to TO!

I think The Admiral is a great suggestion. I'm actually a bit surprised he hasn't been more involved in the NBA. He seems to have the temperament and the IQ (both basketball and otherwise) to be a good coach.

People say Hakeem still has a house in Toronto and loves the city and alot of praise has been put on him. If we could get him as a big man coach I would be thrilled. Hakeem had the best skillset I have ever seen from a big man in my life time that fadeaway was sweet. Hakeem was also a force on the defensive end maybe he could get Bargnani and Bosh to play both ends.

Two words:

David Robinson

Ex-marine/navy seal? (cant remember) will definetly instill some much needed toughness and consistency in Bargs.

In another thread I suggested Divac. Leadership, toughness, Bball IQ. Sign Bargs up.

It should not be underestimated what he might learn at that Lucas camp either. There is no bigger compliment to a coach than to have athletes search them out. I cannot think of a larger recommendation than that.

Robinson works for the San Antnio Spurs, an NBA basketball team.

Divac is the right guy, provided that he has any report with Bargnani.
