The Sun

Sam senses win streak

"I feel like we have the confidence (to go on a streak) and I know we're going to play hard and compete," Mitchell said.

"(But) the key is getting enough of our guys consistent. If we can get six, seven guys playing consistent basketball, then you can win six, seven, eight (in a row), because that's what it takes.

"Two guys playing great is not going to do it. You need that fourth of fifth guy, whether they're in your starting lineup, or coming off the bench."

Game Day

The Bucks are struggling, currently last in the Central Division (16-26, not including last night's game). They have lost three in a row heading into yesterday's game against the Indiana Pacers and are 5 -19 on the road. Part of their problems is a lack of rebounding. The Bucks pull in less rebounds than the Raptors, averaging just 40.47 per game. Another problem is a lack of scoring. Michael Redd is eighth in the NBA in scoring (22.9), but when teams key on him, the offence doesn't produce that much.

Raps fly under radar

The Raptors marched into Boston and defeated the NBA's best team, and their exploits were not front page news across the NBA, or even in some Toronto media outlets.

Head coach Sam Mitchell was asked again yesterday if his club's lack of recognition around the NBA, and at home, bothers him or his players. Playing in Canada always has reduced the Raptors to also-ran status in terms of recognition south of the border, and they always have been poor cousins to the Leafs in this market.

Pro basketball: NBA All-Star starters

The starters for the NBA All-Game on Feb. 17 in New Orleans were announced Thursday. Express-News NBA beat writer Mike Monroe analyzes the teams and the voting. The fans who vote for the All-Star starting lineups tried to get it right.

They just couldn't get past the popularity factor.

The Star

Calderon's all-star chances slim

The Raptors are making an obvious effort as an organization to gain Jose Calderon a reserve roster spot at this year's all-star game Feb.17. You can hear it on radio and watch it on TV. But it's an uphill climb that may end badly.

Winning streak could be coming

"Andrea's been doing well. I've been saying for the past three weeks that I'm not overly worried about Andrea, he's been working," said Mitchell. "And if you have talent, sooner or later it's going to come to the forefront. ... If you have your confidence, the rest will come."

What also comes is a balanced attack

The Sunshine girl looks like she is wearing a very cheap stripper outfit. Something she may of picked up at Value Village.

To answer that question on Andrea, I would rate Bargs development as 5/10. Although he has been struggling, he did start the season nicely. Hit with injuries and confidence isnt helping his development either.

I'd expect similar numbers or a better from his rookie season but since he is asked to play centre, I'd give him more time to develop to it.

By the way I would love for the CBC to have an all sports channel.

It would be great to see more amateur sports on TV. Maybe this way they would pick up say Toronto Rock games, AHL and OHL games, ABA games from Hamilton and Montreal. PBL Basketball in coming to Canada next season if their league stays as strong as it looks right now.

The games they could show are endless.

Thanks for the papers. Another thing on Andrea is that every young player hits the wall at some point (Well, Andrea hit a very BIG wall). But the question is how do they bounce back from it ??

Great podcast on the Jan 24th post where BC talks about re-signing Jose and the under-development of Bargnani.

Yet another example of Toronto media creating their own viewpoints, and stating it as facts. In the "raps fly under radar" article, Steve Buffery, mentions that the Raptors are not getting any recognition in the US, and by some Toronto media even after they beat the leagues best team.

Well, ESPN had a one minute highlight video of the game on their basketball homepage, and their was also another highlight video on the NBA's website. Maybe this horse manure of a writer, could have checked around before he decided to report his bogus facts.

Personally, I think most of the bad rep the Raptors get are not from all Toronto media, but from the Sun the majority of the time. What was this writer expecting, a parade for their victory?

Agreed. The Vince Era really is proof that the Raps playing in Toronto is irrelevant.

ya I don't chime in on the SS girls often but seriously, is this town that hurting for talent??

And hey Little Ozzie: Value Village is awesome... I buy the pimpest rags there, and I know some proper smoking chicks who get their bar clothes there.
