The Sun

Raptors hit the Target

There would be no blown opportunity, a la the loss on Friday to the Los Angeles Clippers; in this one, nine minutes in, Toronto had scored 24 points in the quarter, Wolves forward Al Jefferson had eight and the rest of Minnesota's crew managed only two.

Sam puts onus on players

"All coaches get that question (about keeping their players focused), but what are we supposed to do?" Mitchell said, prior to last night's at Minnesota. "Come in the locker room with a chair and bang it against the wall? Threaten people? At the end of the day, guys, it comes down to who you are as a player ... and being professional and coming out and doing your job. No coach ever made me play hard. I hear that, 'Well, he's going to play for this coach, because if he doesn't ...' What is the coach going to do to you? There's only one thing he can do: Not play you. Period."

The Star

Raptors tear T-Wolves apart

The Spalding moved creatively. Open shots were swished. And by the end of the night, the Raptors had scored 41 field goals, 31 of which came with assists. Toronto's best offensive weapon, duelling playmakers Jose Calderon and T.J. Ford, combined for 23 of those helpers against just three combined turnovers. And so despite some early nonchalance

The win improved the Raptors' record to 27-22 but, with many expecting them to chase 50 wins this year, the season has been mildly disappointing. But watching Calderon and Ford operate last night was a memory jolt for anybody who forgot what Toronto's biggest strength is.

I'd like to know who the many that predicted us to win 50 this year were?

All i remember hearing was the rest of the conference got better except for us.

"Bobby Covert"? Jesus, why not just "Guy Incognito"? Was the surveillance truck labelled "Flowers By Irene"?
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Thx for the papers. As to our record, aren't the Raptors a game ahead of last year's pace?

Yep, you're exactly right. We're currently 27-22 and last year we were 27-24 after losing to the Pistons on Feb. 10, 2007.

The Raps schedule still looks pretty favourable from hereon... 17 home games vs 16 on the road, with 21 of the remaining 33 games against opponents below .500.

And so IMHO they should be pretty darn close to a 47/48 win total this year, excluding the unforeseen intangibles of course. That means however they'll have to play at or above .600 the rest of the way to win 20 or 21 of their remaining 33.

That said more important than win total is their positioning and who they'll match up against in the first round. It's gonna get interesting after the all-star break...

I'm not sure if you're joking or not. I'm sure that was the name used in documentation only.
The good thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.
