Not really, no. Every player gets an offensive board now and then.

It's going to take more than grabbing two quick offensive boards in garbage time against one of the worst teams in the league before I consider him more than a terrible offensive rebounder who gets a lucky break every now and again. I don't think he'll ever grab many offensive boards, but that doesn't actually concern me at all.

Andrea's rebounding has been getting alot better & I'm not as worried about it as I was before. He looks competent and should only get better, so I'm breathing a little easier on that one.

His help D though, is the main thing holding him back right now. I think alot of it is due to a fear of fouling at this point, but he just doesn't have the instincts for it.

Help D is the biggest weakness he has, especially at the centre position. Funnily enough, his man to man D has been very good.

Offensively he's been fantastic the past 8 games.

Just curious on what you think about the other facets of his game right now Hank?

I think his one on one defense is quite good - and a substantial improvement from where it was last year.

His rebounding is improved, but its not where it needs to be. If he committed himself to his rebounding, he could easily average 8 or 9 - but I figure 6.5-7 rebounds a game from him is acceptable.

His team defense is also improved, but he still suffers from too many mental lapses.

So overally, I'd say he is getting better all the time, but the most progress has been on offense and his one on one defense.

I think he will almost certainly become a better offensive rebounder because he's playing more inside the arc, and will eventually post up more. And he's more used to following a shot, even his own, than he is seeing the shot coming at the rim on D.

Seriously? He's a terrible offensive rebounder and I don't see how grabbing 2 measely caroms changes that?

Right now he ranks 241st in the entire league in OR's per game and 278th in OR per minute. Players with higher per minute averages include Luke Jackson, Flip Murray, James Jones, Matt Bonner, Rip Hamilton, Luke Walton, Andre Miller and Nate Robinson. TJ Ford ranks just a hair behind him.

Well obviously he has nowhere to go but up now, but I still don't think you put the words "very good" with "rebounding" anywhere near Bargnani's name anytime soon (unless they are preceded by the word "not"). "Average", maybe. "Decent", hopefully.

But where do you think he ranks on offensive 3 in the key violations? Probably the lowest among centers would be my guess.

I don't see it. He doesn't have the instinct or the hunger for those rebounds. I have yet to see him dive on the floor for loose balls.

As long as he is playing like he is playing this month, then I am happy.

The thing with Bargnani and rebounding is he *really* doesn't have a nose for the ball. I was watching specifically for this the first half last night, and on most rebounds Bargs was nowhere to be seen around the ball - literally, he wasn't even in the camera shot. It seems that when a shot goes up, other players (namely Bosh) start moving towards where they think the rebound will go, and Bargs just doesn't do that. Now, to be fair to Bargs, Jefferson wasn't getting those rebounds either, so it's not like he was getting eaten up on the boards. Still, I think good rebounders go after loose balls, while Bargs is content to box out and wait for the ball to come to him.

Well I'm no fan of Bargs playing C, but he certainly has turned the corner in the last 5-10 games. He looks a lot more comfortable at both ends. This is more of what we expected coming into the season. Now the next hurdle is dropping a huge pts total in a game or two, ala CV's rookie year.

a thing i've noticed about bargs and rebounding is that he actually uses his head. granted it hasn't produced a lot of rebounding but you see when long shots go up, bargnani goes to the most logical spot on floor to try and get it. for example, someone shot a 3 from the corner and bargnani ran to the opposite side of the net to get ready for a long board. so he's learning. but as someone said he doesn't seem to have a nose for the ball and he isn't good at fighting for position in traffic. but he's not as inept IQ wise as some people have stated.

I'm clearly convinced that he has peaked. Now that Kaman guy. He is a kid on the rise.

Kaman took four years to develop into the player he is, let's wait and see what Bargnani's game looks like in four years.

Even though Andrea is clearly playing a whole heck of a lot better lately, is it just me or do you still not really have confidence in his shot?

It still isn't there like it was last year. I'm not expecting him to hit every open shot he takes, but used to think "Bam!" when he would fire it up last year whereas right now I'm hoping it goes in.
