Also, I don't think this team ever loses because of their offense. Even when they score 70pts or shoot under 40%, I rarely see the offense as a problem. This team loses because of their defense...simple as that. From allowing teams to score 120pts + to allowing 100+ offensive rebounds to making 100+ errors and mistakes on the defensive end that makes you pull your hair out.

The whole team is just brutal on defense.

Yes that is correct it is 6.3 RPG. He is not pulling in 19.9 RPG either just in case you needed clarification on that too.

The numbers follow the description. Seriously, they do.

Actually, I did need the clarification... my fault, sorry :D

This issue with TJ goes back to the Milwaukee Bucks days. They were saying and complaining about the same things regarding TJ Ford as some of us are right now. So there must be some truth to it. If it was just Raptor fans from day one, then you can say that there might be some myth or bias to it. But that's not the case.

Even though I agree with some of the things you have to say, it really seems that you are bittered about something. You are always the one trying to bring TJ into the discussion for a debate. When a comment is made about Jose, you have to bring in TJ and say if it was TJ Ford it would be different, etc....Stop being such a grumpy person and learn to let go a bit.

Thanks for the background. I assume that the bolded part is directed to rdtx2005 since he is the one who brought TJ into this discussion, and many others as well.

Why was Calderone subbed out w/ 1 min left in the third???

Post#204 » by mozywozy » Wed Feb 13, 2008 3:14 am

Mike Evans cost us that game by subbing out Jose w/ 1 min. left in the third quarter when we had come all the way back from 12... Jose scoring approx. 10 of those points. He didn't get back into the game until the 8 min. mark of the 4th. On that run the crowd was into the game. The Spurs seemed to be ever so slightly on their heels.... You only get one chance to choke out a team like the Spurs. What was Evans doing? Giving Jose a blow so we could make a late run? We were in the middle of a run! Unbelievable! Jose is a gym rat that could play full games consecutively if needed. He should have stayed on the court and we should've tried to bury the Spurs right then. Very depressing... brings me back to the Portland loss in Portland. Poor substitutions. In my mind this loss and that Portland loss. and subsequent loss to Seattle fall on the coaching staff. Kudos to all of the Raps for playing a tough game last nite. Shame on Mike Evans or whomever was responsible for that substitution.

it's directed at you.

All I did was make a truthful comment... Calderon had been labeled as being kind of selfish that game because the team was cold. I just made the analogy of something that has been 'heard' many times over (TJ Ford)..

Then you came along to be the el-supremo Calderon defender saying that Calderon was actually 'creating' and finding his teammates while TJ doesn't. i'm calling you out on that comment because that wasn't the case. Last Nights game pretty much mirrored the Celtics game. the starting PG had a great shooting night while the team shot bricks. I can't see where you can conclude that Calderon 'looked' for his teammates more.

Since you are the one who brought TJ into this discussion, not me, then it had to have been directed at you, but again we see you trying to twist the facts to suit your agenda.

The problem with your comment, and the reason I responded to it, was that it was untruthful. It was deceitful and manipulative, not to mention petty and bitter. Calderon had a big night. He expanded his game by doing a number of things that virtually everyone here has criticized him for not doing enough. He drove to the basket a lot. He took a lot of shots and he still hit a high percentage of them, something a number of people have claimed he couldn

It's never selfish to take more shots when you're sticking them, and still managing the offence well. It's selfish if your shot selection is poor, your accuracy off, or you leave teammates standing around. That applies to Ford and Calderon.

That being said, if a PG has a FG% of .537 and a 3-pt percentage of almost .46, I would probably encourage him to take more shots if good opportunities present themselves. On other hand, I'd never want a player who shoots 26% beyond the arc to take a 3-pt shot except in utter desperation with a second left on the shot clock.

i never claimed it was selfish.. it's just that some people were ragging on Calderon being "selfish".. and all I did was make a comment that "I have heard this before".. and it blew up into this volcanic eruption.

I've always maintained that if you are hot.. keep shooting the rock, doesn't matter who you are.
