Agreed, missing a flashy star player plus our large number of international players might put some folks off as well.
Not trying to stir up a racial debate, but I think your typical international player is not appealing to 8 out of 10 fans. Take a guy like Manu Ginobli, he is playing better than you Ray Allen, VC, TMAC but he is not thought to be as the same calibre of player. Now change Manu's name to Marcus Stevenson and all of a sudden you have a fan favorite all-star shooting guard.
The fact is that your average black player is more appealing in the NBA. I wrote a 70 page thesis paper 5 years ago about the correlation between skin color and salary in the nba. My paper involved variables that consider, all offensive, defensive statistics, as well as age, height and weight. In my models it showed that prior to 1984 there was a white premium in the nba, where white players were paid a higher per dollar salary for the same output as a black players. However, post 1988 the relationship went inverse and black players starting getting overpaid relative to white players and that trend continues. This very well supports those Jerome James type of contracts nowadays.

Rap's are doing an excellent job marketing a game we invented fact is we don't have a lot of highlight reel players. When Vince was here we were a top draw on the road due to the fact we had a very flashy exciting player right now are just beginning to building interest stateside. If you get the chance to catch a us feed of a game most broadcast teams like the direction of our club and players(moon, bosh,tj and jose ) everybody likes steak with the sizzle.
Nightmare on Bay ST a MLSE production starring Bryan Colangelo ,Mauricio Gherardini ,Andrea Bargnani and Vincenzo Esposito.

Basketball is overrated in America anyway. They don't even come in first or second over there in popularity. Football and baseball blows basketball away by far. Basketball is the third favourite there, and last is hockey. Over here, basketball is last. Does it really make a difference?
Basketball bleeding hearts should be crying about the lack of popularity for the sport in general in North America.
The truth is, we as basketball fans are fans of a niche sport, really.

whooooo the **** cares?!? you? why? why do you care if some friggin americans cant watch a raptors game? how about you be a fan and watch and not worry about what other people are watching.
news flash: other than houston, raptors are probably the most popular team outside of north america. why dont other boards whine about how little europeans get to watch their games?

If you're living in the U.S., why the hell would you flip to a Toronto Raptors game?

I take the Wizards, because I've seen them more = I prefer Iraq to Hawaii, because I grew up there.
Admitting ignorance is a plus. Using ignorance to prove a point should register him as Clayton Bigsby II.

Americans are cocky/snobbish/full or pride. They enjoy hating on any other nationality other than their own. They also enjoy threatening others with their bigger guns, and take their resources while they're at it.
