what a psychopath...
... I've never seen that clip before, but there is no way in hell we want a dude like that on our team - no matter what his upside. He needs a good beatdown. Team chemistry is so fragile at the best of times, we don't need this fool. There has to be somebody out there other than this fool.

We don't need Darko. I'm looking at his career numbers, there's nothing there that really stands out. This year he's averaging about 7 pts, 6 reb, and 2 blocked shots per game in 24 minutes of play. He's only 22 years old, he might substantially improve in the next few years, but I don't expect that to happen.

It all depends on cost,
He is not a great center by any means, but on the Raptors he would be among the best we would have, which says more about our lack of rebounding then it does on Darko's talent.
If we could swing a package that traded garbage out:
ie)
Dixon, Graham, Baston + Future Pick
for
Darko and Navarro
Then sure, by all means
But if adding Darko means trading assets, Meh.

I think he'd be a perfect big man off the bench. Of course, i'm also willing to wait until the off-season and sign Kwame Brown for his defence, for less than the MLE.
Kwame would bring some defense in the post and not have pressure of having to score since we have two very capable scoring big men in Bosh and Bargnani.
Kwame is not a good defensive player. He has the worst footwork in the league and a negative Bball IQ. Sure he blocks a couple shots now and then but and out muscles some guys in the post but most of time he comits bondheaded fouls, bites on pumpfakes and gets caught standing vertical and thens procedes to watch his man blow by him.

in addition to that 'Sheed quote, there was the FIFA incident when Darko made a gentleman's agreement to rape the referees' daughters/wives/sisters.
boy is crazy.
so much promise -- I was so amped when he was initially traded to Orlando, and again when he was traded to Memphis, both times hoping he would pick up some solid playing time and get some consistency.
Larry Brown really had him in the doghouse, but then that's how Larry handles rookies.
but having seen him in several games, he just seems content to hang out on the perimiter. *sigh* fortunately, Raps GM + Coach had enough sense to nurture bargnani and encourage him to grow, or we may have ended up with darko 2.0.

People are missing a unique opportunity here.
What we clearly need is Kwame and Darko.
Put them along with Bragnani and we can have an all-bust front line.
Now if we could only bring back Olowokandi to play point, exhume Len Bias to be a coach (or just bring back Lenny Wilkens they both have about the same amount of life left) and now we are talking. That is a team I would pay money to see.

Its amazing to think that this is his 5th year in the league, and he is only 22.
Personally, I don't see him becoming much more than he is, which is a decent NBA player, but nothing to get excited about. He is still young and could surprise, but I wouldn't want to hinge my franchise on him.

When he came into the league he was one of the youngest lotto picks ever.
There is still room for improvement for Darko, I have no doubt.
But he'll never live up to the hype, and will always be a bust.
But he can certainly be a 12-14 PPG, 8-10 rpg, 2 BPG starting center which is probably above average for that position.
When this contract is up he'll be what, 24 or 25... He's still got a lot to play for.

Ouch, that is harsh.
