Let's say Barnes and Irving are not in this draft, for whatever reason.

How would your top 3 look? Or, would you entertain dealing the pick at that point?

If the draft is further weakened by players staying in school, trading the pick would yield you that much less. no, I think we would keep the pick, draft BPA, and hope/expect you have improved the team, although not as much as you would have liked.

If Irving and Barnes are off the board I take BPA either Sullinger or Tjones/Pjones. Then worry about trade them/other players afterwards.

I asked, because this is what Givony had to say on his twitter page regarding the outlook of this draft:

Then you're going to be even more disappointed in this draft RT @CACR25: What if you are a bad team that has a chance of being in the top 5?
about 4 hours ago via Seesmic Desktop

Well, they're gonna be disappointed then RT @ShamSports: That's not the point. Crap draft class or not, people always value 1st round picks.

RT @mhaubs: IMO, teams shouldn't be shy about dangling unprotected 2011 1st round picks. Perceived value far outstrips this draft class.
about 4 hours ago via Seesmic Desktop

To me, Kyrie Irving is the only sure fire one. RT @JeffPaddock: There aren't two or three franchise changers in this draft? Irving perhaps?
about 2 hours ago via ÜberSocial

Yikes lol. Not saying that Givony's opinion is the be-all, end-all, or that we should drastically change our view on this draft ust because of what he says, but he seems to strongly believe that this draft...just won't yield much, early entrants or no early entrants.

Well I don't think we should trade the pick. If the right deal comes along, then yea. But I'm all for drafting BPA. We need more talent on this squad.

I'll wait till conference tournament play and the tourney to form my opinion on Perry again. I mean it has to be still premature to say he doesn't have potential at the 3. I look at all his mixes, hes playing/moving more like a 4 than he is like a 4. I never saw one post move unless he has a smaller player on him. Playing the 4 at baylor should help him in his development as a player, but I don't think hes going to make a career for himself at the 4 spot. I am pretty sure he himself knows hes a 3 at the next level. I do see the odom comparison and odom could definatgly play the 3 on ne team. I finally see the Bosh comparison ppl wud mention, it only has to do with that boyish scream he does. Fortunately at 19, he still is a boy.

Naw don't deal the picks, I'd rather get one of the Jones or Sully. Spade's right, we just need to add more talent on this squad.

Barnes isn't in my top 3 anyways he's maybe in my top 10 but even that's a stretch now. Irving is pretty much the only guy I want in the entire draft so if he's not available I would move the pick but that also depends on who is available. I would move the pick for a young prospect and possibly veteran in the mold of Antonio Davis/Charles Oakley.

Anyone of Irving, Barnes, T-jones, P-jones or Derrick Williams would make me happy. As i see these guys with the highest potential although some appear to be tweeners

Tweeners are just versatile...kinda. However, I think this team needs defined positional players. Playing guys out of position is killing us. Get the Raps a legitimate Centre and everyone goes to their proper positions. Similar to how Stephen Jackson put everyone in their correct position in Charlotte which increased their success. Playing Bargs or Ed or Amir at Centre makes sure we fail.

Damn, big Euroleague upset today - Rytas beat Panathanaikos!

Valancuinas with six points (3-5), seven boards (five offensive) and a block. Box score doesn't give his minutes.

He did it in 16:36 of playing time. This kid really seems like a C version of Amir, I'd be happy if we ended up with him (assuming he's the BPA when we're picking).

More likely we will pick him up if Irving is not available.
Except I don't know what would Minnesota want, the other teams don't need a young C in their lineup.
Cousins, McGee, Lopez. We can afford to win some games without wasting the pick on our stacked position.

I'm still taking a wait and see attitude, although I won't have a heart attack if we do take him. What I want to see is Rytas go as deep as possible in the Euroleague because Valanciunas already pulverizes the Lithuanian league on a regular basis, but the competition is often lame. In Euroleague comp, he gets to face more seasoned and skilled bigs, and the pressure is greater and he's not handed as many minutes. He has to earn them.

Perhaps that was what I liked most about today's win - it keeps Rytas in the hunt for a Final 4 playoff berth down the road.

I've been saying all along - I just don't think he'll be in this draft, whether he performs well in tournament play or not.

Yeah Barnes seems to let me down every game I watch. Just not consistent enough against college players.

Providence's Marshon Brooks pours in 52 pts (!), on 20-28 FGs, 6-10 3pt FGS, 6-10 FTs. Added 5 boards and 4 assists.

DraftExpress has him slated at 57th overall in the 2011 Mock Draft. I don't know, any person that can score 24 PPG in NCAA ball has to be worth more than that. He's a 6-5, 190 lbs. SG.

Crazy numbers. A little undersized for SG imo. I havn't seen him play. So I can't really share my thoughts on him.
