My problem with your post was you said we basically have to amnesty Bargnani in order to complete a trade under the 150% rule. That's not true. You also have to realize it won't happen because MLSE is not going to pay Bargnani to sit at home. Kleiza will be the one amnestied, MLSE dips below tax under this scenario and only pays a sum of 4.6 million for 1 year to avoid the tax.
Except if you amnesty Kleiza and decline Lucas you have no expirings to deal aside from Gray(assuming Lowry isn't dealt) so that forces you to either include Fields or Bargnani in any trade which lowers the return and that is why I say that you need to amnesty Bargnani. I do mention that if you can deal him for an expiring contract then that would be ideal but I just don't see that happening.
I also would not outright say amnestying Bargnani won't be approved by MLSE, BC will have to sell it for sure but that's the one thing BC really excels at.
Why do you need to have expirings to deal. Expirings in some cases net you assets but also in others, dont. There's countless times where expirings haven't been used at all. I don't for a second think you "need" to have expirings to deal.
Also you keep talking about a "lower" return. MLSE would rather take a lower return on Bargnani than amnesty him. In the NBA every contract can be moved despite the belief on this site. We've seen it with Hedo, Reshard Lewis, ect. I think Fields/Bargnani can be moved you just have to find a team that makes sense. I could see a Bargnani/Boozer trade happen or a Bargnani/Gasol based trade happen if Howard re-signs.
BC signed Andrea to that contract, BC drafted Andrea, do you really believe he will amnesty him with 22 million left on his deal. No chance IMO. He does have value around the league it's just about finding a team that fits.
