It's a comparison moron.

No chit Rasheed is a better player.

You just compared Markieff Morris to Rasheed Wallace (who is nowhere near the same type or caliber of player), and I'm the moron??

I'd say he's more like Steve Nash. They both played for the Suns and the both have an athletic brother.

I suppose you think that Terrence Ross is a lot like Clyde Drexler?

Yo, Ross, I'm a fan of you're game (even though most fans hate you), but I'm trading your azz for Markieff and I might have to throw in a pick.

I really like that Morris brother, he's a good player

Hey guys, went over to the Suns board.

Asked them about a potential deal Markieff Morris from the raps and what they would want back.

One poster said Ross + Patterson for Morris. Yay or nay? What you guys think?

I would compare him to Rasheed Wallace.

Hes tougher and a more consistent shooter than Patrick Patterson.

Common now. You're just being silly. Rasheed in his better years was one of the best two way player on any team. Markief is a shooter who doesn't post up or play defence.. he's a black Bargnani7 with a twin brother.

Markieff doesn't post up? You clearly haven't seen enough of his play. That is one of his strengths

He's also a great pick and roll defender.

Using Ridnour as salary ballast works here also.

Ross, Bebe, Ridnour, is something I would do. Would probably throw in the Clippers pick too.

Hi rap fans, just thought I'd chip in here having watched all of Markeiff's games last season:

The Good:
Mid-range scorer: when he's on, he can look unstoppable at times.
Really good passer for his position
Uses his quickness well both offensively and defensively
Very good down the stretch, was one of the better clutch players last season
His contract is an absolute bargain

The Bad:
Not great size for a power forward
Can knock down the 3 point shot at times, but not well enough to be labeled a stretch 4. Opposing defenses would leave him open on purpose at times - challenging him to shoot the three.
Tends to disappear at times, will give you 30 points on 60% shooting one night, and 8 on 30% the next

The Ugly
Horrendous defensive rebounder, doesn't box out.
A technical foul waiting to happen
Doesn't look well defensively again bigger/ stronger players
Has had off the court issues this offseason

The "ugly" kind of culminates into Markeiff Morris being a player who put on a tough guy facade (technical fouls, trash talking etc.), but then gets man handled on the glass and in the paint. This was probably the biggest point of frustration many Suns fans had with him last year.

Overall, Markeiff kind of fits the label too good to be a backup, not good enough to be a starter. He would work well next to a center who could cover his weaknesses.

Sounds like they're creating a bidding war.

We can offer DEN/NY 16 1st (our best asset, likely untouchable), LAC 17 1st, TOR 16 or 17 1st, Ross, JJ, Bebe.

Don't think Morris moves the needle much, most I'd consider is Ross+Bebe+a later 1st.

He's great at riding the pine.

Wade is basically Ben Gordon without the 3-point shooting. Sure, he's been a pretty good defender this year, so that would upgrade, but I'd rather have Gordon because he's cheaper and can hit those threes

Two of our only capable 3pt shooters, then we don't have a back up PF.

Not really sure that makes us better. We're trying to get another PF in here, not swap one out.

He's not appreciably better than Patterson, who by most accounts is one of our smartest and calmest players. Why put a guy like Morris in front of him? I agree with finding another starter, but maybe not this guy.

Can only trade Ridnour by himself

I'm down for Markieff

I think his game suits the style we play in, rich man's patterson.

Made me a lot of money in fantasy this season 8-)

They seem adamant is wanting a PF back because they are low on big man depth. Trading away Morris, means they would HAVE to sign a PF. They are not really overflowing in that department.

Would take PJ Tucker back too.

Morris [8] + Tucker [5.5] for Ross [3.5] + JJ [2.5] + BeBe [1.8] + 2017 LAC Pick.

13.5 Coming In, 7.8 Going out. IIRC, it's something like 150% + $100,000 or something? I Could be wrong though.

We need a replacement for JJ, and Tucker would work out nicely for that.

I haven't read the entire thread, but I figured I would post this first, so you can see the Suns perspective

Asif16 wrote:
Ross + Luke Ridnour + 2nd round pick?

Is that too little?

bwgood77 wrote:
Yes, that's too little and I actually was hoping the Suns would take Ross in that draft. We could definitely use Ross and Ridnour though. It really depends on whether or not the rumors are true that the Suns want to trade Markieff. To even consider a deal like that, it would have to be a lotto protected first and we would have to have a plan for a PF signing.

Asif16 wrote:
What if i changed the 2nd round pick to the 2017 LAC 1st round Pick? Any interest then?

bwgood77 wrote:
Maybe, but it would all come down to what the alternative option would be at PF. If we didn't have a guy that could help us compete, then it isn't going to happen. Our FO wants to compete, so at this point picks mean less than having productive players and he is our only PF other than Jon Leuer. If we had a plan in place to sign or trade for a productive PF to replace Kieff, that might be a reasonable deal, and not so much because the value is equal but at this point it might be better for him and the Suns if he moves on to another team.
