This is the problem.

Gasol has been in Memphis since he was like 16 years old. It's literally his 2nd home. His family grew up in Memphis.

Going back to Spain makes sense to him especially with Covid-19 happening. He likely won't want to return to play in Memphis and has to make a decision to move his family back to Toronto or another city or go back to his home country where his entire family lives.

Going back to Spain makes the most sense given his age, what he's accomplished, and the current pandemic.

Free agent players might make decisions for next season considering the type of schedule being planned by the NBA.

More "bubble basket ball" of some sort might be a turnoff. Less travel might be a plus. A compressed season might be harder on veterans than younger players.

Gasol's decision comes as his career is winding down, but he and others might take a pass on the NBA next year if they don't like the bigger life disruptions presented by where and when the league plays games and how many personal freedoms players have to give up.

Gasol didn't do well but I don't hate on him because everyone knew he was on the tail end of his career. It isn't his fault Nurse played him far too long. The hate on Siakam's performance is worse because he was supposed to be #1 option and he didn't even play like a #5 option.

So long Marc, you will always be appreciated and loved in Toronto. Best to play at home.

Problem is Gasol still has value, he shuts down bigs like David, Embid, vucevic etc., but has declined offensively. So what price tag do you put on that?

Raptors are still a better overall team statistically by a long shot when he's on the court, but what happens when the Celtics expose him?

Tough call, but he's definitely not worth 25 million+

Bubble parade would have been interesting. Some server in India crashes.

Going back to Barcelona is sort of a no brainer. Spain though has not exactly been without its own problems. Like America, Spain has always struggled with a modern history of being authoratarian. The Guardia Seville. Most recently jailing Catalonian politicians for declaring independence. Let's see Barcelona or Baptist Memphis....hmmm. Pack your bags!

If true, I'm OK with this. Helluva 1.5 year run, Marc aka Beer Papi.

if the Clippers rumours are true about them being interested in Gasol maybe we can work out a sign and trade for Zubac. Clippers are in win now mode so they probably don't have the patience to develop Zubac. It would be like us trading Valanciunas for Gasol when we got Kawhi lol.
