Oh shut up... Fred will provide surplus value over this contract with his defense and shooting alone, even if he doesn't improve his finishing or pick and roll passing

You keep thinking that but I dont want to see you crying half way through the season about his contract.

If FVV does not improve, his contract can also be used as filler for Giannis, should Giannis want to come here. If he improves finishing at the rim he becomes elite.

Good asset retaining. Unlikely he would regress in the next 3 years so he should hold his value in 1-2 years short term.

Nah this is a bad contract you don't sign contracts like this hoping you can trade it later. 21 million for this overrated chucker is a joke. Same people in here saying its a fair deal will be crying by mid season. But leave it to raptors fans to overrated the hell out of mediocre players

He doesn't post often enough for me to take the time to block him. It's hilarious to see guys like this criticize a team that has finished second overall three seasons running, and we fans who think that means the President, GM, coach and players must be pretty good.

This part is huge. He took a dip in salary to help the Raps next year in free agency.

He did not take a dip in salary. His salary more than doubles next season. His contract is just back loaded.

I'm not convinced Fred has any more improvements he can make to his game, and there are limitations with him that cannot be overcome. But that aside, I'm definitely happy for him.

As others have said, a floater would be a huge thing for FVV. That would be a massive addition that would give him more options when he puts the ball on the floor than getting stuffed at the rim or dribbling around until he finds an open teammate.

Malachi should teach him

lol was thinking the same thing. In a shrewd move we acquired Flynn to improve Fred. As well as insurance fo Lowry getting old. Lowry can finally play less minutes if Flynn is any good.

For this year we can re-sign Ibaka/Gasol using bird rights, and beyond that we can use the MLE to sign other free agents, I believe.

Looks like you're doing enough crying for the rest of us.

This is a good deal, we gave him what other players at his level are getting. Considering Jeremi Grant $20 mill a year we did very well.

It was crucial to keep this deal under 20 million so that you had a lot of trade option maneuverability for the Giannis offseason. By outbidding ourselves and overpaying a role player we might miss out on luring him here.
