lol that would be a trash tier move to do that to any kid. I'd be pretty disappointed with the organization if they did that

I'm optimistic about the Barnes pick and looking forward to how this plays out - kinda reminds me of nostalgia of craptors realgm era when all we had to look forward to was obsessively breaking down summerleague play and seeing rookies develop during the season

But this board needs to move on from Suggs in both thinking about 'what coulda been' as well as **** on the kid to justify taking a chance on Barnes

These are still obviously good and valuable players, but they aren't what you build a team around. It's unfortunate that you would rather argue and roll your eyes at me than have any sort of worthwhile discussion.

I can't have a discussion with you because you don't respond honestly. You just talked about players that the game passed by and call them role players and you consider them that now because THE **** GAME CHANGED BECAUSE THE GSW AND DRAYMOND GREEN CHANGED IT.

Oh and if I'm going to get blamed for rolling my eyes... then here

Yet you two seem to always respond to each other in different threads. We have suggested both of you put each other on ignore in the past. Please consider using the ignore feature instead of derailing threads.

Everyone responds to that dude the same way though :dontknow:
Maybe ppl are just sick of his trolling and constant negativity?

Man...it seems really clear to me that both Suggs and Barnes are high-quality guys.

There's a documentary on Suggs that you can find on youtube. Great family. Great guy. We don't need to start trashing someone to justify a pick. Sheesh. He's the same age as my daughter. Of course he's gonna be a little awkward with public speaking at first under all that pressure.

Neither of these guys display any trace of personality defect. Both fine upstanding young men.

Except Suggs kinda directed some 'threats' at Raptors (I doubt it was for the Rockets or Cavs given what transpired). "Whoever passes on me will regret it". Honestly, that looks premeditated and manipulative, not awkward.

But you are right. Good luck to both.

Probably because they’re getting killed by the media for picking Barnes over Suggs. I’m always skeptical of these reports that post draft that say x had a bad workout to justify a team not picking him. I’m sure the Raps are confident in their decision. Also damage control from a Raptors fans as well after hyping up Suggs to insane levels

Where are they getting killed in the media?

I don't get either of the perspectives. Some of us said they would take Barnes. Doesn't mean Suggs sucks. It means Barnes has qualities they value highly.

Some people are acting like this was a huge reach when it really wasn’t. Several mock drafts had Barnes going before Suggs. It has also been reported that OKC was trying to trade up for Barnes (OKC who has done pretty well in their drafting history). It seems that Orlando also would have taken Barnes because Toronto could have traded down if the Magic wanted Suggs.

I can already picture Dave in a Gonzaga jersey smoking a cigarette and dribbling around his left leg with his off hand.

Context matters, id like to hear how he did in the other workouts. However it seems he moved down on a few teams boards

Bro....that's just good-natured competitiveness. Absolutely no problem with that at all. It's not disrespectful and it's a common trope in pro sports.

At this point, it's irrelevant.

Raps made their pick.

And we move on.

Reminiscent of the fultz workout with Celtics, had a bad day and they traded down. Raptors didn't have the trade down option available seemingly.

They didn't because Orlando was fine with either Suggs or Barnes and they would take whoever was left. So no trade down to OKC unless we wanted Kuminga or someone else.

I'll give Suggs credit, pretty slick for a 20 yr old. But not slick enough. He oversold the acting on draft night. That lost the Oscar award.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Its funny how the Raptors twitter decided to show this clip, focusing more on Suggs reaction. Strange camera angle. If this isnt telling than I dont know what is..

Read on Twitter

you're REACHING. Kid is genuinely happy for his friend. All these kids are close and want nothing but greatness and joy for their friends as they achieve lifelong dreams. A great friend just had his named called to be drafted in the NBA; of course he's going to flex, clap, scream, whatever for Scottie.

quit the woe-is-me/us insecurities.

Enjoy Scottie. He's going to be awesome.

As had already been said, Jake Fischer was the first to "break" this story, and people were **** on him and calling it BS for absolutely no reason. I'd also like to add that it's highly unlikely that Suggs' bad workout was the factor that led to us not selecting him. Rather, it seems now that Barnes was their guy for a while, and the bad workout was just more confirmation of their prior assessment.

He's a competitor. Nobody likes being passed up on.
