Fred - 38
OG - 34
Barnes 34
Trent 33
Achiuwa 26
Birch 20
Dragic 16
Svi 15
Boucher 12
Banton 7
If we give the Boucher and Birch minutes and 3 of Fred's minutes to Siakam that puts it like this:
Fred - 35
Siakam 35
OG 34
Barnes 34
Trent 33
Achiuwa 26
Dragic + Svi + Birch + Banton 38
So, Option 1:
The 2022 first rounder presumably goes to a wing shooter or guard to replace say 20-25 of the Dragic + Svi minutes, with Banton taking the rest.
Achiuwa/Barnes/someone tall
Siakam/Barnes
OG/Barnes
Trent/2022 1st
VanVleet/Banton
Obviously Barnes would still start but that shows playing time and roles more.
Option 2:
If we want a proper full-time center and to play Banton as the backup PG and OG a fair amount at the 2 instead we could also draft a proper center to take the minute Birch now takes.
If you look at it that way it's starting to feel like we have 6 guys we like and their roles are as follows:
Achiuwa/2022 1st
Siakam/Barnes
Barnes/OG
OG/Trent
VanVleet/Banton
and Banton will fill one spot (with people sliding accordingly if we want more shooting/creation and he's not just the backup 1) with the 2022 pick hopefully being another good pick and filling that spot.
Option 3:
We take another forward with size and skill and if they do hit, play all 4 of Siakam, Barnes, OG and that pick and depending on the matchup and who's playing well the 5th guy is another longboi, a traditional center or Van Vleet.
I like how you've laid this out. Unless we are bringing in an All-NBA level player I don't think we will see any significant moves this year because we need to see how things look as the rotation shapes up once Pascal returns and as Scottie develops. With Pascal playing it will be more clear where the biggest roster deficiencies are. I don't think SG will be as big of an issue as it currently is if we have a guy on the wing who can handle the ball and score consistently, which is what Pascal is expected to do.
In terms of priorities I think we need a bigger body up front. Poeltl would be perfect but I'm not sure we have what the Spurs need.
