this is for sure a hit piece.....at the same time it's pathetic how one guy who likely knows nothing about basketball has this much influence on the Raptors franchise.....this is why the Raptors were a pathetic franchise for so long, these executives at the top know nothing about basketball yet they make all the big decisions. I'll give props to Larry Tanenbaum though.

All I'll say is if this is true were really lucky to still have Masai. Toronto has this problem with all there sports teams it seems there are too many chefs in the kitchen and half of them don't actually give a damn about the team.

Why are performance based incentives a bad thing? Most CEOs have stock based appreciation incentives tied into their contract. That is literally the same thing as being compensated based on appreciation of value of the organization

Masai probably does value that the Raptors are owned by public companies under a board structure, that values $ above all else. Otherwise, he could be dealing with an individual owner, as racist & dumb as Ed Rogers.

This is a billionaire complaining abt paying someone who brought a championship here a couple more million lol Doesn't make rogers looks good

The guy is a friend of Donald Trump...money is probably not the main motivator for a guy like this. He may not have liked the idea of a black executive moving up in the company.

listen, you guys on the left are really dumb and imo don't really have any friends who are actually black.

The Left is more racist than the right. Before Trump was president lots of black ppl loved him. Whoever happens to run for president on the right? Is racist no matter in societies eyes, that's just how it is

I said nothing about left or right.

We know Trump's views when it comes to race. There is no gray area when it comes to what he thinks about race in America. If Ed Roger's is proudly and publically aligning himself with the likes of Trump...it is guilt by association.

This isn't a political argument.

Unreal.

The kingmaker here was Mirko Bibic from Bell. He's the relatively new guy on the block and he sided with Larry T. Good man.

Of course we're likely knowing all of this now, probably because Ed Rogers was just removed - voted off in fact - of the Rogers board.
It happened last week.

Smart though. What does this city love? Masai.

Pit Ed Rogers up against Masai, get the public angry, watch people threaten to leaves Rogers. Stakeholders, board member (even Ed's board) can't stand behind that loss of revenue.

Ed is forced to take a backseat for a period of time. That backseat allows his family to get further entrenched and make it harder for him to come back.

Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

KO7 wrote:Reading that section about Rogers accusing Masai of bringing bodyguards to the Muskoka meeting, seems like Rogers has tendencies akin to the rent-a-cop that had that ridiculous situation with Masai after Game 6.

Dang, long live Mr. Tanenbaum indeed. Hope there’s a solid contingency plan for when he needs to step down.

That story just points out how smart Masai is - he knew what he was walking into, and brought witnesses (even one with a video camera). The message that Rogers delivered to him probably over the phone a few days later about the bull**** of Masai not being worth his contract, he probably wanted to say to Masai alone.

The raptors are a top 10 valued franchise according to forbes. You really think that would have happened regardless of masai and the winning the last 9 years?

I'm sure the racists all voted for Barack Obama for 2 terms as president and a Biden/Kamala Harris ticket ironically...
