Losing to DET, is the tank on for this season too ? Only 3rd win for DET on your home court (not in FLA this year) ??

Most points we've scored in the season. Fred's dribble for 20 seconds offense ain't it.
Scoring 121 against a garbage Pistons team -- who sports the 30th ranked FG% defence as well as 30th ranked 3FG% -- should be expected, especially with the high pace and them playing on a B2B.

What is far more important is we gave up the most points we've allowed this year (11 more than against the damn Nets with two superstars) against the worst offensive team in the league.

Yeah, weird. It’s almost like Fred plays good defence.

So why have we had such a good defence through the first 13 games and why did it take 14 for a team to figure it out?

Pistons played damn well tonight and hit a lot of tough shots. Shots they missed 24 hours ago.

The Raps defense heading into this game ranks #13 = middle of the pack....the notion that we're some kind of defensive jauggernaut is a fallacy.

right... and we have the players to be top 5, and they all bust their ass every game. the schemes are doing us in. every **** scrub gets hot vs us, why is that?

They have the bodies to play man to man defense but they keep trying to overhelp. How about changing the defense to match your roster? You don't need to help off shooters all game when your entire team is filled with players who can defend their man.

It's because we're trying to play without a center and that's our way to not let a scrub like Stewart abuse us. This team desperately needs to another center to this roster.

pingpongrac wrote:This was a **** loss. Worst defensive showing of the year and it comes against the worst offensive team on a B2B. OG and Scottie were terrible defensively, Flynn/Banton/Dragic were continually roasted on drives, Boucher had a few big defensive breakdowns.

But all that matters is the offence looked slightly more aesthetically pleasing than if FVV played, right? It's also ironic that Siakam was clearly our best player and Dragic might have been our 2nd or 3rd best player. So who gets the blame tonight? FVV for not getting his teammates involved in other games? Siakam for ruining the floor and changing the hierarchy? Nurse/the rest of the team because Scottie only took 10 shots and was invisible for most of the game?

Actually yeah... when fvv comes back we're still gonna have nights that look like this... icmean we looked horrible against Boston WITH a healthy lineup... we Barely beat a scrubby Philly without Simmons or embiid and gave up 109 points to them WITH fvv...

The logic of these posts makes it seem like fvv is some franchise focal point superstar... he's not. That's the problem. We've been a 500 team with him... we were a lottery team with him last season too...

We were never gonna win anything with fvv as our starting pg... if anything were hovering around first round elimination status...

To me the answer 8s simple... ifcthats our ceiling right now anyway... then I'd much rather play a fun aestheticallyvpleasing sryle of play, watch the young guys get more burn, watch scottie develop... also, it a few more losses means more ping pong balls and again another chance at another scottiexbarnes...

This is not a season I expect to win, therefore yes, aesthetucallt pleasing basketball matters more to me than ugly basketball that will result in a few extra meaningless wins.

I don't like Pascal at the five position man. He played amazing tonight but Detroit was feasting in the interior. Assuming precious is healthy, I'm guessing Nick is going to stick with Pascal at the five? I mean who else can you take out of the lineup. We have to stick with this lineup I guess. Having Fred back will be good defensively, but I hate this small ball lineup

It's time Nicky unleash Khem at the 5.

I use 'unleash' very loosely.

Turned it off when Hayes splashed in those 3s at the start of the 4th. Terrible defense start to finish against a historically poor shooting team. Lazy effort and Nurse deserves some blame for his defensive schemes.

It’s been rough. Dribbling into traffic. A turnover machine. Occasional matador defence as well.

I actually prefer him knocking down clutch shots. He has that 'mojo'. He's the xfactor for us when we're in playoffs in comparison to Siakam imo.

Hes a lot more important and vital to this team than the casuals think.

Hes a lot like lowry in that way as well as every other way thats been talked about. When lowry was here the same casual group loved to trash him. Until we won. Fvv doesn't get that credit tho despite having won too.

Sure Fred is a great defender and helps the team D a lot.

But Dragic played a fine game, was more of a distributor than Fred, made two free throws late, like a true pro after sitting so long.

The defense needs to have a center on at all times, without Birch tonight they were attacking the rim free and easy, and getting open 3's off our collapsing, over-compensating defense.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

FVV isn't a natural point guard. Trent Jr has never seen a shot he doesn't like. Barnes, a rookie, is 2nd in passes made.

What a clown take lol.

Who said we’re a defensive juggernaut? We are ranked 13th with a 105.7DRTG. 5th has a 104.1DRTG. We’re closer to top 5 than we are to 30th (113.3DRTG)

Besides, I’d love to know our defensive ranking adjusted for our offence, because a loooot of points come against us from just poor offensive play where we can’t set our defence.

Tonight was a piss poor defensive showing, but anyone making this out to be a theme is just foolish.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.
