Guys like Pascal and Fred are getting a bad rap but the shot distribution really isn’t that bad to me. Add that to the injuries and guys just underperforming and you have a sub-.500 team.
Unfortunately it looks like this might end up being another stealth tank season, which, ugh. Long term that might be really good. There’s just simply too much talent on this team to be this bad, and adding another decent prospect to this and you’ve really got something. Before they have any success, Barnes either has to turn into a superstar or Nurse has to change the offense in some manner. This offense is what we ran with Kawhi, and it isn’t working because we don’t have a Kawhi.
When we're healthy some of our guys are playing up a spot in the pecking order from where they belong because we don't have the top end talent and depth we used to have. With the injuries it's that much worse.
I still think SIakam can be a good player for us but he needs to be in a secondary role. Right now that's not possible. I still think he needs to make better decisions at times and be more aggressive. I hope this is something that will come around soon because we know he's been better in the past.
Despite all of the above, there is no reason the team should be THIS bad. The way they continually fall behind to start most games is deflating. It's one thing when things fall apart later. When they keeping having these bad starts you want to get up and go do something else. Now more frequently, that's what I'm doing.
I feel like we are on the precipice of another tank season. I'm not there yet but something has to change, whether it's guys getting healthy or some guys improving / getting back to their previous level.
Like many here, without Scottie I don't think I would be watching.
