I can't even call this guy glass, that's just an unfortunate injury
What's the recovery process like for that?

tell the whole **** story
You know there's a reason their bench logged more minutes right? I wonder if you can figure it out.
is it because they forced Fred to miss almost as many shots as our entire bench?
First of all, look at the shots FVV is taking compared to the looks the bench players are getting. FVV is taking off the dribble threes and pull-up jumpers most of the time while the bench almost exclusively got open threes and layups. IIRC, the only shot from the bench that wasn't a wide open three or layup was Achiuwa's terrible midrange shot he jacked up after dribbling the ball near the baseline for a few seconds.
Second, FVV -- with all of his shooting struggles -- still put up 24/5/10 with 2 steals and 0 turnovers. Our entire bench gave us 16 points and 0 assists with a couple of steals and blocks plus 4 turnovers.

Of course the work in the offseason will be huge for both players development, but Cade is in the all-in development plan much like rookie LeBron was.... and Barnes is much more a piece of the puzzle for the Raptors being the 4th or 5th option and he is in more of a situation like a rookie Tatum where he's more of a player that just has to fill his role.
It'll certainly be interesting to see how the 2nd half of the season goes for both these guys. Hopefully Barnes becomes more of a focus for the Raptors offense because FVV can get his whenever, but for FVV to really take his game to the next level its about what he can do for guys like Barnes to help him develop. It's what guys like Lowry, Billups, Chris Paul, etc figured out and made them such important pieces to great teams.
This is so important when a rookie has star potential. If we do the same thing with Barnes in his 2nd year, we have officially stunted his development in terms of developing him into a star.

Barnes was like the 3rd option in the first part of the season. He's now the 5th option. Has lost all his confidence because of the downgrade. It was a lot more fun when Barnes had a bigger role. Now it's like watching last year's team.

I hope that isn't true. Casey needs to spread out this effort across every game not just the ones against us. I don't know how he does it. Didn't this guy beat us three times during our championship season?

I would ask each and every player that played under Casey if they're tanking for him on purpose. Is it to spite Nurse? If that doesn't annoy them, then you know something is not quite right.

Considering the play of other rookies he'd be lucky to be drafted top 10 in a re-draft. Okay kind of joking but he's not especially separating himself is he as of late

Re: PG: Abysmal
Just think, tonight we had:
No starting 2nd guard that could create or shoot
Our starting C got knocked out early
Our bench rotation has no PG, no SG, no real C, and wings that can't shoot
Very flawed lineup.

I think precious is more than capable of handling the center duties without Birch. Even if he is super tunnel vision on offense. It's Gary Trent that we desperately need back

They are not playing team ball. Some folks are all about getting to the all star games. We should think long term. They need Barnes to play well to be an elite team. We are better with him holding the ball. He can't be a spot up shooter.

Since 2019 we have had to be just a little uhm philosophical about the Raps. Once the 2019 squad was blown up then anyone paying attention might acknowledge the growing pains. That said I have no idea why they crap the bed against Casey as near certain thing. The effort was never there. The bench is in shambles being the only consistent thing this season. Is Banton ever going to play again? Svi if were hockey player would be sent down. Talk about hitting the wall.

Achiuwa is too selfish. Have you all noticed that him and scottie do not follow each other on Instagram. Scottie and Pascal don't follow each other too.

mrdressup wrote:The thought of this team in the playoffs worries me.
Why? You shouldn’t expect anything from this team this year. If they make the playoffs - count it as a learning situation for a guy like Barnes….
… Of course I believe FVV and Siakam will empty the clip on horrible %s. That’s just playoff basketball with this team as far as I can expect due to increased pressure and no “real” star power. Siakam is probably the only one who can probably get FT attempts but he likes to avoid contact.
… So no, Barnes will not get any real reasonable experience of playing to his potential in the playoffs or be allowed to make mistakes just like what we are experiencing now because FVV and Siakam are fully healthy and preseason expectations of shot attempts and are our go to players.
raf1995 wrote:I just don’t think he has that kind of potential. I think we will regret not trading him for a haul in a few years when he’s a mid-tier starter with nice playmaking and defense and a shaky jumper.

They don't need to like each other, just play well with each other. Plus Scottie and Pascal definitely like each other.

Ya he's too damn skilled to be so passive. Fred and siakam have been balling out like crazy so Barnes seems content just taking a backseat.
Hope he knows that if this ever plans to go anywhere, it'll be on him to take us there. He's only a rookie so I'm sure the mindset and skill set will come in time.

He gave us 10 points tonight, but I thought he was a massive liability defensively. Especially that second quarter when we were in the penalty.
