Re: Pelley new MLSE boss, could be good for teams
The rumour last year was that Pelley would take over as president of both teams. Neither Shanahan nor Treliving have addressed the media yet, so I wonder if they're just getting their ducks in a row to purge both teams. It would be horrendous timing for the Raptors. But, I really think the Leafs are going to turf upper management and go broke to re-sign Marner. Ed Rogers doesn't seem to know anything other than retain stars to sell tickets.

per athletic
While Shanahan’s future with the club is still being determined, there is a positive internal view on the job Treliving has done in his first two years as GM. He’s under contract beyond this season.

The "yes man" has arrived. It was a nice run while it lasted.

They need change no doubt but I always say this - Leafs are run as a business first. They don't want to stop that gravy train. They had the most home playoff dates since 2002 (7).
That's all these guys really care about.

If we go back to the "good old days" with a new version of Richard Peddie, I'm packing it in for good. Will save me money on sports packages since all that would be left for me is a few months of nfl football.

Shapiro would be too busy talking about future renovation plans to even know there's an on field product to worry about lol

We'll have to see. Masai has one more year left on his contract and Rogers has the right to buy out Tannenbaum next year. At that point, they'll merge the Jays into MLSE and Ed Rogers gets to have his sports empire. If past is prologue, he will install his own (underwhelming) yes-men at the top and try to cover for his and the leadership's incompetence by throwing money at it. The Raptors will be a distant third priority after the Leafs and Jays so not even sure how much benefit we'll get from his willingness to spend - his only redeeming quality as an owner.

Pelley is the former CEO of Rogers and TSN.
He's just Ed's friend. He knows **** all about sports.

They need change. The only problem is that the guy in charge of the change is one of the most incompetent humans alive.

I haven't seen the updates in person, but I can only hope they are nice enough to distract from the unwatchable mess they are fielding (again).

Was just over there this past Sunday and it is a great job but the on field product will always matter way way way more to people.

I honestly wouldn't be shocked if Ed brought Colangelo back to run the Raptors.
