Luka being the next star in LA, to replace a retiring LeBron, was kind of the obvious star move. Luka had the opt out, and the Lakers had cleared the cap space for that summer.

Just surprised Mavs bit so early on it. I wonder if Luka's injury this season is worse than discussed, and it would have limited him this playoffs.

Lakers got bailed out here....Luka gives them another 10 years of playoffs appearances, just as Lebron is about to retire.

Well, it's about to get awkward now for Pat Riley - who was banking on 2026 cap space for Luka

What the sh*t!?!?!

That's a crazy deal.

Will have to think about it some more, but first glance, LA seems to get the better end because they're getting a superstar who is 6 years younger. Wow.

Apparently, he wasn't offered around

Which also makes no sense. If you are going to deal a perennial MVP candidate (amid a down year), you would think you'd try to maximize your return by opening the deal up to multiple bidders.

Yeah, no. I'm not buying this. Do they understand the bidding war that would have taken place if Luka was put on the market?

If so.. I hope we offered Barnes and whatever else to at least TRY.
That report doesn't need to come out. Even if we did. :)

Lmao bro Lakers could go 0-82 next season and this would still be the greatest trade in NBA history.

No they couldn't. AD is better value than anything Raptors got. AD is even more valuable than Scottie at this age.

But Mavs could have got much better value than that.

Anthony Davis is 31 (will be 32 in March). While he may no longer be as injury prone as he used to be, the Mavs just made themselves worse.

An offer of multiple FRP's, and pick literally a combo of anyone not named Scottie Barnes and that package is right there.

Ehhhh no.

You could never get Luka and not give up Barnes. Just impossible.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Luka may not have explicitly asked for a trade but his contract situation and preferred possible destinations may have led Dallas to get ahead of a possible difficult scenario next season.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Where's Mark Cuban? They got completely flossed here. The Mavs GM wants defense? Bro go look at the Pelicans and get Herb, get OG, anyone other than **** AD?

This looks like some kind of NBA marketing deal that was forced by the league to keep the Lakers relevant.

Luka doesn't request a trade... Mavs go straight to lakers and don't tell other teams one of the best players in the league is available... sure bro.
