Shead is just a very poised, mature, steady and reliable player...he will be in this league for a long time.

Really reminds me of Fred in his 2nd season when he took off with the bench mob.

But the big separator between a guy like Fred is he seems to have real natural leadership qualities and is a guy that brings everyone together while Fred was more of a quiet to himself dude.

We turned Jalen McDaniels into...

Jamal Shead
Davion Mitchell (who we flipped for a 2026 LAL second round pick)
Alijah Martin

Another Vasquez like trade lol.

Martin is a scrub but Shead and that pick might end up being very good.

Shead is impressive as a defensive and passing guard. He's got two elite skills already and his shooting isn't far behind.

Shead is already one of the best backup PGs in the league.

Martin is hooping in the G-league so maybe we have something there?

Hope Bobby can hit on the LAL second round pick.

Fred was about getting his own stats first. Shead is a much more unselfish player. He tries to get others involved before himself.

I think Shead's mentality and playing style is closer to Lowry.

Why are you writing off Martin as a scrub? He's putting up good numbers in the G. I get that he's a bit older, but at least give the poor man a shot, lol.

My favourite player on the team, and a guy that totally reminds me of Lowry. Shead is the type of player I'd love to see play his entire career here.

Yeah. He is just a likable player. Hard worker, good leader, plays hard on defense, pretty athletic/ fast, & just a good guy overall.

Like I said in the game thread, "he just has the look and feel of a Toronto Raptor". He has that heart and character.

If you were raising a child who played sports, you'd want them to be like Shead.

Yeah. I think Martin is a wait and see. He didn't look great in pre-season, but he is building confidence in the GLeague. The guy is a beast physically/ athletically. I am sure the Raptors were hoping he could turn into the next Marcua Smart, Josh Hart or Lou Dort.

We'll probably know by next season if he has an NBA career or not. Powell took time, so we have to be patient.

Fred was extremely unselfish in his bench mob days in the 2017-2018 season. The ball movement, chemistry etc. with that unit was some of the best basketball I've seen as a Raptor.

Also, I think you are forgetting that Lowry was a bit of ball dominant player his first few seasons with us until we revamped our play style in 2016 under the tutelage of Nurse. It was a lot of Demar iso and then Lowry iso. Lowry really improved as a facilitator and floor general over the years.

I actually think that as a leader and teammate, Shead seems much more mature at such a young age compared to both Kyle and Fred at the same age. Obviously we'll see if his play can match his leadership.

Shead is a bit more like Kyle than Fred for me just because Fred's offense was mostly being lights out from deep, while Shead and Kyle both have more ability to drive and score closer to the bucket, with less reliable shots from outside (at this stage in development).

is being a Shead Head borderline offensive? Lol

I find this Raps team has so many marketing opportunities and they don't do a good job promoting them

I didn't think he would be this good, didn't really see what his calling card would be, I thought it would be pesky defender like Davion, Shead is just a good PG tho, really steady good PG.

His turnovers piss me off to no end tho, and he rarely makes turnovers. Like last night he way over sailed an outlet pass to Jakobe, which was a routine pass, but I can't lament on that stuff cuz he's been soo good with the ball, it just that his turnovers are ones he should make so one day he actually might be perfect. He's like gradey, in my eyes all the 3s GD missess he should be hitting and it pisses me off

Funniest thing is him and Davion are both playing very similarly this year. It is to bad we didn't have room for all 3.

The idea FVV was about his own stats first is such lazy analysis to. FVV just got the typical starting PG hate that every PG we ever had got (including pre-2019 Lowry, and current IQ). If Shead ever progresses to starter, the same thing will happen to him

Big fan of Shead though. He is just another great find by the FO in the Lowry-->FVV-->Shead mold. These guys for some reason are devalued throughout the NBA and then they just end up being winners despite their size limitations.

Just incredible what this guy is doing - real impactful as a back up point guard and is proving that he should be finishing games as well.

Where were all you people in the lowry thread when i was comping Shead to him? Lol

The young trio of Shead, Dick and Walter are all bringing it right now. And they can all shoot, along with Mamu, so the spacing just gets even better once they to to their second unit. Plus the pace always gets better once Shead comes in the games. They take nothing but quality shots, and normally win the minutes he’s on the floor.
