I would be very happy if he can become similar to Bogdan Bogdanović.

Kyle Korver that is a little more dynamic.

8/19 from 3 since returning from whatever two week program he was on.

I’m sure that’s a borderline all star player.

credit to him and to whatever program he was on

I think he improved a lot positioning in defence. I watch a couple games in g league and the prior nba short stints and he was always lost.

He seems to be positioned much much better now.

Maybe he was taught very different in college, who knows.

Well, Scottie already kissed Dick.

After the deadline, we better not see GTJ on the court. Give all his minutes to Gradey, even if he sucks. He has very high IQ and he is not a bad athlete either. Just needs to get stronger and confident. Just make him play 30 plus minutes this year and let him gain his confidence. There is no pressure to win anyway. He should be told to keep chucking them threes until he starts hitting them. lol.

So Dick looked like a guy who had done a ton of research and studied the game of basketball, so he knew in theory what should happen. He seems like a very smart student of the game because all season you could see that he read the game well.

But, when he stepped on the court he looked like a highschool kid who was just trying the sport out for the first time. Earlier this month he was down at the G-League and looked terrible on the court.

In the last week, since has had been up with the Raptors there's a massive difference in how he's playing and it's not just his jumper. He looks like his body is better executing what his mind knew he should be doing. Also he has drastically reduced the hesitation in his game.

He's looking very good and has made some pretty big strides. As some have mentioned, his body being a bit stronger seems to be helping. He's definitely playing way more physical and taking the pain as it comes.

It's hard to say because Dick potentially has a lot to offer as an ancillary creator, rebounder, cutter, finisher around the rim that if he develops and leverages these skills, he could be more of a Gordon Haywood type than a straight shooter. Haywood started off mostly as an on ball creator who leveraged that into outside shooting, so Dick would be coming at it from the opposite direction, leveraging his shot into these other skills. But if these other skills don't come along, then he's more of a Cam Johnson, Kevin Huerter type.

Dick will continue to grow stronger as long as he keeps on stroking it.

So glad Dick is starting to really develop and crack his way into the rotation. Almost forgot we had another lottery pick on our hands by the start of this rebuild.

He shot 20% in November on 3s, but it's been 33% in December and 42% in January since. Definite improvement.

I think Hayward is a good target for Dick's ceiling. I feel like his ball-handling is a little above the Korver-types. I think his iq and passing is step above those guys. As far as a "base" goes for Dick to become a guy who can get on-ball reps he has flashed some skills that suggest that there is maybe more to be unlocked over time (some baseline ball-handling capability, flashes of above-average passing, the overall benefits that getting stronger should provide). I'd say he has some baseline skills that make you think "ok, he's not a complete lost cause as far as ball-handling and passing goes", which makes me think that he might develop into something above a Korver/Reddick level player, at least as a on-ball threat.

i think duncan robinson should be a good inspiration for him. robinson was one-dimensional as a movement shooter and defensive liability. last season he was essentially out of the heat's rotation but this season he added a dribble-drive game, is fully back in the rotation and the heat actually run on-ball actions with him.

it'll take time (it's robinson's 6th season) but if gradey works on his body and his skills he could be more than just a shooter, which was obviously the hope when they drafted him.

I think Darko is going to give him the same recipe as Desmond Bane

Once he continues to get stronger and quicker, and the game slows down for him, he's gotta work on his ball handling and learn to run a p and r

I think Darko eventually wants multiple creators with lots of action especially on the weak side and just create havoc for opposing teams

we need multiple ball handlers and shooters all over the floor and let them rotate around Scottie

The idea with prototype 6'9 was that we would get a bunch of great athletes and then train them to be basketball players. If there were 5 guys on the floor that could all handle, pass, and shoot the ball while working together defensively to funnel offenses it would have been the new break through. It sucks that we had so much invested in Achiuwa. I was personally invested in Achiuwa and OG but they didn't show any creation ability improvements during their time as Raptors.

The next step for Dick is to learn how to use a high pick against a drop big center and then pull up for open threes to stretch the floor for a guy like Scottie. We often see defenses recover too quickly on our 4 on 3 advantaged. The NBA is more athletic and longer than ever, this means they recover faster than expected. We need guys who can bury threes from the the logo on a regular basis.
