can't wait to see what the spacing will look like with Gradey once the other starters are back. Teams already respected Gradey, but if they now have to dedicate more defensive focus towards him it will create even more opportunities for others. The building blocks of a very effective offense are all there.

I was doing a lot of dick bashing but mid season last year i totally understood Dick's a grower and not a shower.

But face it, nobody in here predicted this level of growth. Hopefully its sustained long term.

What I noticed about him, no complaining.

He should be going to the line more but doesn't while. I appreciate that.

Sam Vencenie on the Game Theory podcast talked about the breakout players this season and raved about Dick.

This one ended a lot closer than I expected.

Dick was showing a lot more than just catch-and-shoot, too, which was nice. That side-dribble fade, the pull-up. He had some nice rip-throughs attacking close-outs. He had one on the right side where he attacked and had a nice pull-up push shot with his right hand, almost a floater but too close to really be. Nice variety. More matchups with different players will help outline how often he can do that against the bigger, more athletic defenders, but it was pretty nice to see. 26 shots is big.

And that Magic Fan tweet was nice to see, haha.

He's gone 25, 15, 30 and 31 the last 4. And he was bad to mediocre from 3 in the middle two of those games, and was still scoring. Straight stank against Denver, but I mean, 3/4 ain't bad, haha.

The only thing silkier than his layup package is his middies. Butter. Oh, and I think he shoots 3s.

I had labeled him floor Korver ceiling Klay right after the draft on this board. It’s great to see what he’s doing now, but I think he can be even better.

A lot of people were on the bandwagon early. His feel for the game was always impressive.

It's hard not to get ahead of yourself with him.

We haven't had a player this polished offensively out-the-gate since Vince. I said I could envision a 20ppg player in the first game thread and he's already there! lol

It certainly looks like he'll provide a much-indeed injection of offense for us, and that's a reasonably big deal.

Though I was not too worried of his eventual level-play as the next Gordon Hayward with his ball background as I felt like Darko held everyone back last season! but I certainly did not expect to see him at 20 points per game so early.  .
I was afraid we had missed on the next Ray Allen in Jordan Hawkins(not doing bad himself right now at 17ppg btw).
Gradey is way ahead of Gordon Hayward at the same age! way ahead! It is unbelievable. Masai got us another one of them!!!

Gradey Dick is currently the highest scoring 2nd year player in the NBA, ahead of Wemby and Chet lol (20.8ppg, Chet 2nd with 19.2).

Obviously won't last, but I think it's safe to say the Raps landed one of the top scorers in that draft class.

From a long-term perspective, Gradey emerging as something special now is particularly good, because of the lack of a 2022 first rounder to extend next summer with a big $$$ deal (Ochai isn't that guy) means there will be a two year opening to play Gradey + our high lottery pick in the 2025 draft under their rookie contracts. Everyone else's deal is the same. Developing a C to replace Poeltl at a smaller dollar number (at least for a season or two) could keep all of the young talent together into the first year of Dick's next contact, and allow Masai/Bobby to get a lot of high end bench talent out of the two 2026 first round picks, or trade one both of them for a key veteran to cement a solid playoff team.

Again I cannot emphasize this enough but Reggie Miller is a top 50 player in NBA history. Devin Booker does not touch him.

He carried some mediocre teammates much further than they should have ever gone.

Devin Booker is better than Reggie.

Naw.

The overhyping of these current stars need to stop. You think if Reggie Ray and Peja was allowed to jack up as much 3s as these guys do today you don’t think their stats would be way more inflated like Devin booker. Devin Booker is not better than Reggie nor is he better than young Ray Allen.
