His stat line is almost identical to last year's stat line, which is a bit disturbing because the improvement I've seen with my own eyes doesn't seem to be translating into improved play.

For a guy as talented as he is, I'd like to see some meaningful statistical improvement from last year to this year and some kind of clearer indication that he's able to consistently be very good.

The problem is that the guards don't give him the ball. I wouldn't worry about his statistical production. It's about the skillset that translates to the next level, which he has in spades.

Rest of the article is here, it was also reported by Tim Chisolm of TSN

As of right now, I know I’ll be back,” he told SNY.tv exclusively following No. 8 UConn’s 67-60 loss to Rutgers Saturday. “That’s all I could tell you, I’ll be back.”

I really do think Drummond will be coming back for a sophomore season. He values the development and education he's getting at UCONN. It's funny because from a character perspective he's the anti-Calhoun.

Have you ever heard about a player giving up their scholarship because they felt it was the right thing to do, to right the wrongs of his coach? Seriously that's character.

He is the one that put the coach in the position by coming early. He is also very confident that he will eventually make more than enough in the NBA to pay for school. I would not be surprised if he came back either because he has not dominated this year and other top prospects stayed last year too.

I mentioned this in the Drummond thread on the draft forum, but I think Calhoun undercoaches his star recruits as freshmen so they remain raw and they'll stick around longer, giving him a talented and experienced squad down the road. He only seems to get in the face of his complementary players.

Barnes is best suited for small forward, anyway if you trade Derozen for pick then why not wait till next years draft and package derozen and pick for a top 3 pick that can net us Mohammed SHabbaz who already has two guard skills and is better suited to play that position...

Sign me up for Shabazz. Perfect SG.

2 years ago and last year, Barnes was a perfect SF. Now Sabazz is the perfect SG. I'm not willing to tank for another year after this to get a player.

I'm back supporting Barnes. I think he's going to be like Paul Pierce in the NBA.

I'm pretty sure BC won't be willing to tank either, it looks like he's going to use that capspace this offseason, even if we don't have much of a chance (if any) to land the premier free agents this summer. With Val and what will likely be a pretty good pick in this draft, we should be an improved team anyways. It would have been nice to be in a position to attract top talent this summer to really propel our team forward, but it looks like that won't be happening.

lol, you might not have a choice. The raps are getting better but I still think we'll be lotto bound. Even with Jonas. Teams in the East are forever getting better, while the west could slowly deteriorate.

I remember Pierce in college as a physical player, getting into the paint and finishing at the rim. That team with Pierce and LaFrentz was a tough team. I don't see that from Barnes...

It's gotta be Quincy Miller. He's the closest thing to star power this draft has left IMO.

Everyone has probably heard this already but Shabazz has a 7 foot wingspan. Doesn't Dwyane Wade have a 6'11 wingspan? I'm against tanking for two years straight but I'm not gonna lie, with the talent we have and two rookies in 2012-13, I can see us having a bad season.

Teague may as well stay for 4. I think Quincy needs a soph season more than anybody.
