Hero wrote:Zzzzz I will revisit the Cavs vs Raps discussion in a few games when we see how the Raptors handle some elite teams.
Ok, you wanted to revisit this in a few games. Beat the Cavs without needing a miracle, and 4-0 over the last week. Cavs 0-4 over the last week. You still think a stacked Heat team beating a starting lineup with Calderon, Bargnani, and JJ in it is relevant to where these teams stand now?

If he can get the Pels into the playoffs it should be a unanimous MVP vote.

DMC had a 31-18 night on 11-15 shooting. These two guys right now are 1a/1b for best players in the NBA. DMC also added 2 BS, 1 steal and 2 assists.

Wiggins with another impressive performance. Kevin Martin going down will be good for Wiggins' development.

It was a good win no doubt. What is relevant at the end of the day is what happens in the playoffs with the Cavs. The Cavs look like a mess and I thought their coach was a lot better than he has shown. I saw multiple "experts" say how good he is but I have seen nothing.
I do think that LeBron is clearly off and if he were healthy it would be much more difficult. Not sure if it is fatigue or what but he is a very different player compared to the past few years. Looking forward to the next few games and hope the Raptors can keep this up.

I don't think it's the coach, but have no doubt that he'll start catching heat, and be made a scapegoat if they keep losing.
Bron will be fine, but that 24th ranked defense is because they have a team that is chocked full of awful defenders, not Blatt imo.

Re: Official General NBA Discussion Thread V2.0
The Cavs need to change their defensive coverage on the PnR, and I think that is partly attributed to Coach Blatt. Love and Varejaro aren't exactly fleet a foot, so they shouldn't be hedging hard on ball screens making their length of recovery far greater when they have to get back to the screener. When that happens, Kyrie and Dion are forced to sink to cover for the screen defender, but way too often they don't know where to rotate. Their rim protection is already non-existent and having Kyrie and Dion patrol the backside confounds this issue even more. Bosh and Birdman were able to hard hedge detonating PnR actions because they were mobile defenders able to move extremely well, and Wade was literally a weak side menace with his shot-blocking abilities for a guard. Blatt should have Love and Varejao play a more conservative role on the PnR, dropping back on ball screens protecting against the drive. Although Love and Varejao aren't terrifying rim protectors, they at least offer a big body for guys to get through and around versus having Kyrie and Dion offering no help at all.
Basketball is like poetry in motion, cross the guy to the left, take him back to the right, he's fallin back, then just J right in his face. Then you look at him and say, "What?" - Jesus Shuttlesworth

Re: Official General NBA Discussion Thread V2.0
Washington has been playing solid basketball this season, even though they've had some close shaves. I think once Brad gets back in a groove they can be formidable. They've been flying under the Radar with the Cavs and Bulls getting all the headlines.
