from what i've seen this is just a bunch of execs leaking that they'd want a good player on a great contract. like, duh? lol. nothing yet to really substantiate that og wants out himself. and possibly being unhappy with a role isn't the same as wanting off a team.

but i do think some of this talk may well be coming from us. because more teams saying they're interested only further builds og's trade value. and we know that this front office doesn't make bad trades. so maybe they're slyly playing this out to obtain a better player with a higher ceiling, because there's no real leverage on og's part contractually or urgency on our part to really do anything.

the only question is what or who would they want? and speaking from an unbiased position, there's no way any of these proposed deals that we've seen so far are anywhere close to og's true value considering his contract and strong two-way play, which as we've seen this post-season, is a major factor come playoff time.

they only deal og for a star.

what in the world are you talking about? what is everyone yapping about with this stuff about OG's role diminishing.

Here are some facts:

Raptors Regular season USG% last year:

1. Pascal (25.8)
2. FVV (23.7)
3. GTj (21.8)
4. OG (20.5)
5. Scottie (19)

Raptors playoff USG last year:

1. Pascal (24.2)
2. GTj (21.8)
3. OG (21.2)

Raptors FGA reg season last year:

1. pascal (17.8)
2. fred (16.9)
3. GTj (15.5)
4. OG (14.5)

Raptors FGA playoffs last year:

1. pascal (17.8)
2. OG (13.7)
3. GTj (13.7)
4. fvv (13.5)
5. Scottie (10.5)

OG FGA reg season career

2017 4.7
2018 6.0
2019 8.2
2020 12.1
2021 14.5

and as for his touches decreasing throughout the year yeah well guess what we started th season without our All-NBA #1 offensive option and OG stepped up and showed he could produce as many of us expected he would. And then Pascal came back and his touches went down. Big whoop. big surprise.

But somehow despite the steady increase in his FGA and USG year over year, and just because the other 3 top scorers on the team get a measly 1 more fGA per game (GTj) or 2 (FVV) or 3 (pascal) in the regular season (but not in the playoffs where he was tied for #2 USG) that out of all that you somehow conclude that his role is diminishing and that he is unhappy because what - he wants to be a 1st option on a sh&tty team instead of a major offensive role on a highly balanced team that is going to be a contender next year? all based on an article that ADMITTED it had no evidence whatsoever for this invented unhappiness and that it was pure conjecture? and this is worth 50 pages as other media hacks riff with more BS on that original BS article?

like wtf?

moreso his role down the stretch of the season and can see where he will end up on the heirarchy of things. its obvious Barnes will now have more of the ball in his hands moving forward. you and i can tell this will be Barnes team moving forward. even if OG was the "third" option going into the season this season, Barnes has already supplanted him because of his ball handing and decision making.

don't need a genius to tell you that your role is going to be diminishing once a higher ceiling playing comes into the system.

Yup. Fred and Pascal will always have the ball more than OG. Scottie, by virtue of being ROY and the expected improvement from the offseason will also see more shots...that means Gary and OG will have less shots. I can't imagine either of them being thrilled with the prospect of fighting over the leftovers...

I will pretty much guarantee you that OG will be traded

the package will be too big to turn away

more than what he's worth

if we keep him, and want to trade him next year we will get half as much. So then you'll probably be stuck paying him 30 million.

I feel with all these teams that want him now is the time to pull the trigger

Unless Portland is willing to toss like 4 unrestricted frp, don't see OG going anywhere...

I'd do Kuminga and Wiseman. Just based on the upside but dunno if the Warriors are keen on that though

a core that is over the cap with no bonafide super star. And when (if) scottie develops into one the timing would be off because every would be getting a pay raise by then. doesnt have to be OG, but someone from the core will be gone if masai is serious about winning.

Once we win 55 games next season due to more experience and improvement by young players, it will be sold to MLSE as a future contender, everyone will get extended and we will work in the luxury tax. Book it.

Not what I want but it's likely.

Cap going to 170m

$170M would be great. 2023 is showing :
    - Cap Maximum: $122,000,000,
    - Luxury Tax Threshold: $149,000,000,
    - Luxury Tax Apron :$155,196,200
We're in decent shape. Atlanta and Washington OTOH have spent lots for little or no playoff gain.

I love OG as a player and personality, but given his availability concerns the last few seasons, I’d take a good trade offer if one comes around. A desperate team looking for help might overpay and we need to take advantage of those opportunities

Really don't see Masai trading OG. But if he is, you better believe the other team is getting fleeced. Like 2 1st rounders a pick swap plus Hart and Simons is a maybe.

Would be in nirvana if we somehow got Kuminga lol.
