Obviously won't last, but I think it's safe to say the Raps landed one of the top scorers in that draft class.

Good to see Washington hit with Bilal after sooooo many whiffs with Johnny Davis, Deni Avdija, Rui Hachimura, Otto Porter and Kwame Brown.

I'm really curious to see how the starting lineup manages the opportunities they get once Barnes and Quickley are back. Everyone in that lineup has reason to be respected by opponents, so while Gradey's shots attempts and points will likely decline, the quality of his looks will go up. If his percentages go up, that in turn means defences are going to have to stick closely with him, and that means better looks for RJ, IQ, Barnes and even Jak. I'd really like to see a few weeks of that lineup before Masai looks around to trading Poeltl, which is still the better long-term move.

I’m a big Gradey fan and I’m loving his improvement. But you guys get so excited and start making weird comparisons and then when said player doesn’t live upto these unrealistic expectations now you have a bunch of people who decide they wanna hate and trash everything the player does.

Can’t wait until Gradey gets paid and then the Masai hate crowd starts going at him.

Gradey movement shooting will allow him to create space to shoot and score many points. However I think his effiency will be streaky. Also, Can he be effective with less touches when quickley and Barnes return? He pairs well with Barnes where sometimes Barnes struggles to create his own shot.

Will be interesting to see how he develops. Right now, he doesn't get to the line a lot, which will hurt. That said, he's showcasing a pretty decent short game to go with his 3, which is helpful. So we'll have to see. A steady diet of assisted Js will help his consistency, though, at least to some extent. He's also getting to the rim at a reasonable rate, which is going to help his 2P% and his consistency at least a little.

he's getting stronger but his game is still more about finesse. I'd be worried about his health and stamina if he constantly seeks contact like RJ does

I was doing a lot of dick bashing but mid season last year i totally understood Dick's a grower and not a shower.

But face it, nobody in here predicted this level of growth. Hopefully its sustained long term.

I predicted it. :meditate:

I also predicted 16-18 PPG. You could tell the kid was a natural scorer the last season during his last 20 games.

Well he has a few things going for him over say Trent. He's 2 inches taller, so he's about .25 taller than Kawhi for example, just there isn't a with shoes measurement from the combine, so he's listed at 6"6 despite mesaureing barefoot 6"6.25. Also about .5 inches taller than Thompson.

He also has a really quick shot, and since he doesn't need the ball in his hands, he can really move around and be what we need, a floor spacer off ball.

But he is shooting crazy numbers in the paint and midrange, like 66%. Still he has shown the ability to put the ball on the floor and make pullup shots, which is huge because it means he's not just a catch and shoot.

At the same time, he's just finishing horribly at the rim, 47%. Chances are he can improve that, especially with better players being healthy. So i'm kinda excited to see IQ Dick Barrett and Barnes together. Doesn't need to average 25 PPG, but I mean we have Agbaji and Mitchell starting.

Plus he's still only 20..... for a couple weeks.

Yeah, 52.4% inside 3 feet is pretty rough.

But he's showing lots of good action from his short game, and a lot of the shots look good. We'll just see what happens as we get to see more of him.

A lot of people did. Most fans were high on the pick, and I don't think most people turned on him last year.

The Dick is now shooting 47/37/90 on 16fga for 21 ppg in the 7 game season to date

if he could keep up that ppg at his age it would put him in some pretty impressive company

in fact i see he already is there in this list:

at least for the moment

In this kids prime he will be a 50/40/90 guy and he has a chance to be the one of the best player in his draft class

2 nice pullup fadeaways in a row tonight, he's suddenly got all these options when teams close out hard and maybe when they go over, chasing him around screens.

I'm personally most dissapointed in the lack of Dick jokes so far this season.

He's a top 5 pick in a redraft. He can do more than shoot and we're seeing it. The defense has been very good and he is able to push the ball in transition and find others. Him, RJ, Agbaji, and IQ along with Barnes developing makes it pretty hard for our team to tank... We're going to probably be in the play in.
