Giving players like GTJ more minutes than Gradey and Ochai is focusing on winning over development. Last 5 games (since Ochai joined) GTJ is averaging 28mpg, Gradey 20mpg, and Ochai 14mpg. Ochai is averaging less here than he did in Utah.
This is not what a rebuilding team does, this is what a "desperately push for the play in" team does.
Why is it that whatever you see is obviously what is occurring as if it's factual? You give no leeway for being wrong or not accurate
-Boucher doesn't even play first & foremost
-They tried to trade brown, trading brown for the sake of trading as if he's impacting winning is just as bad as your "not tanking notion"
-Trading Jak now also makes little sense without finding his replacement. If you're interested in developing Scottie into a star, having viable functioning centres is definitely something you're gonna need.
You guys just think tanking comes in one shape n form & has to look the same across the board... No way y'all can seriously say we are gunning for a playoff spot because Trae young got injured & we didn't sell every single piece of asset at the TDL. Jaks probably here for the foreseeable future
Boucher not playing and sitting on the bench is a waste of an asset, but sure we can call that one a wash. Brown "they tried trading him"? Yeah, same way they "tried" trading FVV, Brown isn't fetching a first and/or a prospect. Jak, you don't need a 27 year old C, we need players to grow with him.
Trade Jak, team gets worse, we likely keep the pick, draft a centre. Or you know, just play the other veteran center that we have.
If Boucher was an asset he wouldn't be here, he's here cuz he's clearly not an asset and has 1 more yr on his deal
They did try to trade FVV, they didn't wanna take back Luke Kennard or Grayson Allen, similarly they didn't wanna take back whatever was offered for Brown, both instances make perfect sense. Maybe more avenues open up in the summer time when draft compensation isn't tied up and money gets freed up by more teams...
"You don't need a 27yr old C" well I totally disagree with that, you need a competent C on both sides of the ball for team building purposes. Will Jak be here on the final iteration of this team, maybe, maybe not, but getting rid of him now also serves little purpose.
Even in your tanking rethoric, it doesn't matter what your team does, it's about the teams around you. In your scenario, we could've shipped Jak for pennies on the dollar and likely not move in the standings regardless
