Not sure if this was reported anywhere else, but according to SalarySwish the 2nd the Raptors are giving up in this deal is their 2031 SRP.

There's a good part of this fanbase that has zero risk tolerance and couldn't make daily decisions if they had to. You should know roughly what a pick is worth, you should be able to put it in a certain category and you should be able to make a decision and live with it, instead of pontificating forever and suffering paralysis by analysis with .... "but but but we don't know what could it have been?".

This is one of rhe deepest Raptor teams I have seen for scoring talent.

Defense is concerning though.

Barnes, Poeltl, Ochai are all proven defenders. IQ is a good help defender, but needs to be paired with an elite POA defender at the guard spot.

Shead and Walter will be good defenders.

Dick, RJ, Ingram & Battle are all sus defenders

Mogbo is a good defender, but not a legit rotation player yet.

This will be interesting to watch though. See how it all unfolds

I have explained why I love this trade in other threads.

I went from seeing it as a treadmill move to paying a very well calculated price to give your stellar medical and development staff a chance to see if they can help a former all-star entering his prime find a new level.

If there weren't concerns we wouldn't have gotten him so cheap. The swing is worth it for the potential upside.

A move like this takes guts. I appreciate them taking the swing.

So Siakam became:

Ochai / JaKobe / Ingram / and then space to get Davion / Shead

Assuming we retain Ingram, I wonder if it is still "a bad deal"

You also have to consider that the teams record would be much higher with Siakam so our current 5th overall lottery position would probably be 13th to 18th.

There isn;t anyone else with big cap space that is going after Ingram this summer. Washington took themselves out of that market when they took on Marcus Smart's contract for a late first round pick this year. I thought Memphis swindled Washington. Basically, Washington bought one of the last picks in the first round for $40 million in future salary. It's going to be a long process in Washington.

My advice to people is don't get too attached to any of the players besides Scottie, because as the team improves, watch Masai look to package assets to get bigger fish. If Masai could upgrade to a franchise point guard, I'd say IQ won't be here until the end of his contract.

I'd still like to see a big power forward - a Banchero comp - to add physicality. I'm feeling certain the league is going to make adjustments to reduce the heavy over-reliance on three point shooting, and that BI's mid-range and Scottie's post work are going to be more important than ever moving forward. A big C or PF might certainly spell the end of Poeltl.

This is just the beginning. Masai likes to take big risks and as the asset base grows, he's not going to be shy about using young talent to get even better young/youngish talent.

Could see us targeting VJ Edgecombe, he's a Raptor pick probably best POA defender.

If we're high enough in draft we could look at Harper instead of Bailey unless the raps feel he's best player available and as an insurance to backup Ingram in case of injury.
