No, the lottery to determine drafting order is always in May, during the playoffs. So about a month away. The actual draft is on June 23.

No?!

April = 4th Month of the year
June = 6th Month of the year

Today is the 20th and the draft is on the 23rd....I guess "around" is limited to a couple of days variation for you lol

i like the idea of Rabb. He has been a highly touted prospect for years out of HS. He has the athletic tools and mobility just needs to fill out and learn the game.

I'd try to trade Ross hard at draft day. Powell will replace him anyways. Hopefully we can snag Murray.

I'd feel better having both Ross and Powell. Seems crazy to give Ross 10 mil if we have zero plans for him to grow into that sum.

Murray is more talented offensively than Wiggins......even the current version of Wiggins.

wiggins coming in the nba was seen as a defensive stud whose offense would grow.

murray is easily a better shooter/passer then wiggins but overall, wiggins slashing is too elite.

Wiggins had elite measurables and athleticism - two things Murray lacks. I do agree that Murray has a more diverse repertoire, including the ability to operate in the pick and roll. Comparing them is a pointless talking point though, really.

Powell provides much of what Ross does with more intensity and less immaturity at a tenth of the price. Trading Ross in a package to move up in the draft, or upgrade the PF spot is a no brainer

1. LAL - Ben Simmons
2. PHI - Brandon Ingram (traded to BOS - Saric is coming next year)
3. BOS - Kris Dunn (pick swap + another minimal asset to move up)
4. PHX - Dragan Bender (bye Kieff!)
5. MIN - Jamal Murray (perfect running mate for LaVine, space floor for Wiggins n KAT)
6. NOH - Buddy Hield (Gordon gone and Davis needs some help with the scoring load)
7. DEN - Jaylen Brown (they have Harris and Barton I believe at SG n could small ball w/ Gallo)
8. SAC - Ivan Rabb (they need maturity in the locker room)
*9. TOR - Timothe Luwawu (we've been looking at 2 way players, him, Powell & Wright good combo moving forward)
10. MIL - Jakob Poeltl - they need a defensive C
11. ORL - Skal Labissiere - they take a gamble on replacing Harris
12. Utah - Forkan Korkmaz
13. PHX - Domantas Sabonis - somewhat security of Bender busts
14. CHI - Tarean Prince - they value toughness
15. DEN - Denzel Valentine - to Mudiay with distributing
16. BOS - Marquess Chris - banking on upside
17. MEM - Henry Ellenson - Zbo is aging and Gasol can defend post anyways
18. DET - Demetrius Jackson - has some grit and upside to his game, seems like a decent fit as back up
19. DEN - Brice Johnson - a nice way to open up a trade for Kenneth Faried
20. IND - Chieck Diallo - they just seem to look for a diamond in the rough
21. ATL - Tyler Ulis - they were already rumoured to be shopping Teague
22. CHA - Malik Beasley - just add some scoring
23. BOS - Thon Maker - the Celts I think are swinging for the fences with their picks, they have enough "solid" players
24. PHI - Caris LaVert - get some ballhandling
25. LAC - Diamond Stone- just some padding for DeAndre
26. PHI - Zhou Qi - it's nearing end of 1st rd take a gamble*27. TOR - Cat Barber or Isaiah Cordinier (the French connect w/ Luwawu in D-League), I still like Bentil but doubt it
28. PHX - Cat Barber or Isaiah Cordinier - whichever one we don't take, think they have similar drafting tastes to us
29. SAS - Petre Cornelie - small ball C next to LMA for Pops and seems like a mature young player
30. GSW - Kay Felder - Gstate shocks people with a short flat out scorer

I don't see us passing on Poeltl if he's there at 9. Biyombo is going to get paid and we will be looking for a cheap replacement.

I do quite easily...

1. Wish I could remember the interview but Biyombo was asked about his contract and his response was along the lines money won't be an issue and he loves it here. He's already Masai's guy and I know I'm totally speculating right now (although I really don't think I am that much) that there's a deal in place

2. Poeltl wouldn't cover Biyombo's impact...Sabonis worked him for crying out loud

3. Masai has never drafted based on need and I certainly don't see him starting that on the day he gets his best pick ever and a chance to really get some talent. Luwawu has good upside on both sides of the court and would make a great pairing with Wright and Powell (possibly Bruno)

1. If Biyombo gets comparable offers to what Toronto sends him - sure he's staying no doubt however I highly doubt he turns down a considerably better offer no matter how much he loves Toronto. He hasn't made enough money to do that yet. Who knows though maybe you're right.

2. To be fair I did not see the Gonzaga Utah game. Did DraftExpress do a matchup video on it? My response is that was one game and don't be sold on just that. By that logic Karl Anthony Towns is crap defensively because Kaminsky worked him.

3. Fair but is a young promising center a worse pick then a young more promising wing? Depends on the disparity in perceived talent. Centers are much harder to find and are often drafted. Wouldn't surprise me if we took him.

Would love Denver to fall in love with somebody at #9 and want two picks in the Top 10... Would be great to get an offer like Boston gave Charlotte last year for the #9 pick...

#15 pic, #19 pick, and 2017 Memphis 1st Rd pick (Protected 1-5)

All Day Every Day...

Will happily take a combo of anyone who slides of Chriss/Rabb/Davis/Labissiere and Luwawu/Valentine... Stash or trade the #27 for future considerations... In 2017 we would have another Three 1st round picks including a Memphis pick has potential to be in the lottery in a stronger draft...

Would be in a fantastic position to be able to let DeRozan walk for nothing without it significantly hurting the franchise.

Cat Barber at 27. Sounds like drafting for 905. I think they would go Hernangomez way ahead of Barber.

The more I look into Malcolm Brogdon, the more I like what I see. I know we don't need more SGs but with the potential for an elite defender who can guard PG, SG and SF with some excellent off-ball cuts and play making for others on the offensive side, he will be a really attractive piece. I don't know if his shot will translate to the NBA but if Powell could fix his shot, maybe Malcolm has a chance.

I know he doesn't fit a need but as Masai said, he is always going to be going BPA and at #27 I see a lot of players that will likely bust while Malcolm sticks out like a sore thumb. I'm thinking guys like Brice Johnson, Ben Bentil and Cordinier are taken before #27, especially if Rabb and Brown don't declare.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKM7FytCMPQ
http://augustafreepress.com/how-good-is-malcolm-brogdon-acc-player-of-the-year-good/

In the 12 minutes Malcolm switched onto guarding Ingram who has 7.5 inches of standing reach on Brogdon, Ingram went 1 for 7 after shooting 9-10 in the 11 minutes prior to that.

I love the intangibles and BBIQ as well. I see Brogdon as another underrated senior who teams will regret passing on because of perceived low upside.

If one of Brown, Murray or Hield don't drop to our spot I would actually be down for this although I don't think DEN would give up the MEM pick as well, #15 & #19 seem to be enough if I'm being unbias.

If I was Masai I would make sure I grab one of Luwawu or Valentine first (not even sure if they both aren't drafted by then and DEN I could see liking either and grabbing with the 9th pick to ensure they get one lol) but a pair of those names would be a great haul although again personally it's pretty risky that both aren't off the board as I could see Utah or ORL taking a chance on Valentine.

BUT...all that said I think I just don't see it happening because Masai has said it on numerous occasions now that he doesn't have the roster space for all the picks we have coming in the next 2 years so adding another one (and your proposed scenario 2) seems very unlikely. Really think about it. We have Wright, Powell and Bruno PLUS 2 picks this year and 2 next year. Do you really think were going to dedicate HALF the roster on a 2nd place team to all that youth??? I highly doubt that and if anything I'm almost certain at least 1 is traded away in a package for an upgrade at the PF position but it was a nice idea lol

I do not like Poeltl either.. If we do get Luwawu, I would look into drafting Hernangomez with our second 1st rounder. He has all the tools to be a rich man's patterson on offence and slightly below patterson on defence.

Hey GD,

Agree that it's doubtful for your above reasons... I've been saying the same thing that I only believe we walk out of this draft with one rookie... Was more or less taking a hypothetical stance if we were to let DD walk cause we didn't want to pay him the max, but I believe that too is also doubtful.

I hear what you are saying about value for the #9 pick. However, if the Memphis pick isn't involved I don't do the trade. Its the only reason I really make the move. If they wanted the #27 to sweeten the deal, fine, but I don't think I am all that far off of value considering...

Last Year Boston offered Charlotte for the same #9 pick
#15, #16, Future Brooklyn Pick, and a future 1st from either Memphis/Minnesota

[url http://www.celticsblog.com/2015/7/28/9058789/bostons-draft-day-offer-to-hornets-revealed[/url]

Now obviously that's overkill, and I have no idea why Charlotte would turn that offer down... But

#9 and #27
For
#15, #19, and Memphis Pick

More than reasonable, I think, No?

I agree that I think Masai seriously looks at trading the 9th & LAC 2017 1st for 15th & 19th + Memphis 2017 pick.

Take a PF at 15th best of Sabonis, Rabb & Davis
Take Ulis at 19th but offer Ulis, Ross & Patterson to 76ers for Saric, 24th & 26th
With 24, 26th & 27th get Zizic, Hernangomez & Qi likely all stashes with the exception of Hernangomez.

Return to Toronto Raptors
