However, it does create space under the luxury tax which allows team to keep an extra player for full season this year (2 actually with Dragic gone) and insures that the team will be allowed to use MLE next season.

Stranger things have happened. Beal I agree as Wizards have leverage and he did not demand out, but Simmons situation is similar to Kawhi at the time as well as both of them trying to force his destination to LA only.

Just a reminder that we traded Derozan when he just made back to back All NBA teams and was a perennial All Star. It was months after he made All NBA second team that he got dealt for Kawhi. Trent Jr and Boucher are borderline starters for our team.

Good points. That said, we’ll likely be at or under the tax line, even with Dragic, once the season starts and we pair the roster down to 15.

My assumption is that Masai and Bobby will work their magic to keep us under the Luxury Tax for all the points you raise above. There just seems to be a number of minor moves they can make to ensure this happens (i.e. trade/run with a 14 man roster like a few years ago) before they need to consider buying out Dragic for nothing.

I like the idea of keeping dragic he got game. Can definitely mentor the young guys something different from KLow and most definitely can win us a few games
