I definitely never said PJ3 was a better shot blocker than Randolph. But Randolph has never been a very good ball handler, and as a result committed a lot of turnovers. Although the assist numbers are similar, PJ3's passing game is substantially more fluid in my opinion. PJ3 is a smooth offensive player, and he has better ball handling and passing skills than Randolph. Either way, if he ends up being the player we choose, assuming he wants to play in Toronto, I think he would be a great fit.

Don't think so.
Casey wants toughness and shooting, so I think the door is already closed.

Right now Draftexpress has Barnes at 6 and Beal at 9. Imagine if we somehow flipped DeMar for Milwaukee's pick and got both Beal and Barnes? Half this board would suffer heart attacks.

As if MKG declares.
We still need a ball handler, this is why I prefer Lamb for now, and hope he can turn himself into Doug Christie.

Beal is a ball handler, not to mention the point guard.

If we draft Beal or Lamb keep DeRozan hes not worth $hit right now you never sell low he
has to be built up again as an asset. Let him duke out one of them for starters minutes
it would be nice to stash the wings with young talent. The Anthony Parker, Jason Kapono,
Jamario Moon and Joey Graham wing tandem still gives me shivers.

coach cal will force mkg to declare. he has 2 top 20 recruits comin in nxt yr that will play sf and sg same as mkg. not sure how mkg will fit with alex poythress coming to uk. lamb cant handle the ball for long stretechs. i dont see how he can be that doug christie. ive been following the past draft thread and just wondering if u been following college ball. didnt see u contribute much b4...

People have to take what Casey and BC say to heart. They want veterans, they have enough youth. Why would they want 3 draft picks this year? I can see them taking one and a Euro for the second and stash him overseas.

Beal and Barnes with JV, Demar, Davis, Bay will be a pain to coach. Way too young. If they want a plug and play guy that can help quickly then look at Beal OR Barnes OR most likely MKG. I think PJ3 would be way down in their list.

Jonathan Givony ‏ @DraftExpress
Haven't been tweeting a ton, but am watching lots of games, talking to scouts & keeping the Top 100 rankings up to date:

Givony just moved Beal from 10 to 7 in his latest prospect rankings, a little over an hour ago. Don't know who else he moved up or down.

I had never seen Beal play until today.
WE HAVE TO DRAFT THAT KID! Im being serious that kid is gonna be a star. Explosive as f*cuk, seems fearless, seems to have decent basketball IQ. He just seems like the type who wants to be a superstar and you can tell the kid has oodles of confidence. I actually thought he was the best player on the floor today. I was a big Lamb fan but I think Beal is easily a more exciting prospect.

Yep I think Beal is a 6'4-6'5 version of Paul Pierce

mkg + barnes, pj3, beal, lamb, rivers and ross = at least seven solid wings on the board. yes all declare yadda yadda...

w/ davis, drummond, sully, trob, the raps would encounter at least four... umm... issues at the front of the line. #glut

in case of the latter, already hoping BC parlays the pick into max value ala orlando/webber circa '93.

no question getting ahead of myself here but,

stillllllllll

soooooo

pumped.

Actually, I watched Lamb last year (along with Walker), but not this year.
Lamb has a tighter handler (due to his quick hands) than Beal, but Beal is an alright (kind of) ball handler, it seems he is better than DeRozan, while not as good as Bayless. I feel Lamb is more natural at dribbling, while Beal isn't always lowering himself and protecting the ball, he might not be fancy like Lamb who uses spin move or crossover, but Beal will through the ball up quickly when he sees double teams.

We probably don't need another top pick, but we can draft a raw player with our 2nd pick, and send him to D-league.

Good to know. But probably we are not surprised. I will be surprised when Barnes dropped below him.
I think he will be under Sullinger, because I see a lot of similarity in both of them, but Sullinger is a PF (big usually draft first).

I think Lamb will be in top 10 as well.

I actually find it hard to think of an adequate comparison for Beal, he is a unique player. You often hear the Ray Allen comparison, but a lot of Beal's game is quite different. He is constantly moving on offense, he plays physical on both sides of the ball, he is good defender, he makes good decisions, he plays reckless at times (in a good way), and he is just fearless. He actually reminds me of a Ray Allen/Rip Hamilton/Dwayne Wade hybrid. In Bill Simmons' book he talks about players that have "it", if there was one other talent in this draft, besides Davis, that had that "it" factor; my instincts say Brad Beal.

I've only watch a smattering of Beal this season but he is one of those guys you see and think "natural." The game - playing with aggression and intellect - comes easy to him. He's got great body mechanics and he might not have a 7-foot armspan but he plays so big. I take him (and I think BC and Casey would agree) over Lamb for this reason - he's got the body, instincts, and the disposition to be a great wing defender and rebounder on the wing, sooner rather than later.

Beal + Johnson is nice two-ways.

Beal + Derozan is nice two-ways.

Beal + Sonny/Kleiza/Barbosa you name it I like the looks of it. a lot of it is the shooting ability but it's also the physicality he brings to the table.

3 rookie starters? And no point guard? I certainly hope not.
Draft Beal, keep Demar and let them battle it out in training camp. Loser comes off the bench.
