Can't wait till he breaks someone's ankles and dunks it. He's like that. He's got more in his bag than I thought. The pump fake step through was nice, reminded me of DeRozan with the footwork.

Let's pump the brakes a bit, with Scottie going down again we might get to see some extended burn and that will give us a good look. But much like GD last year, it was way too early to call anything.
Hopefully it was just his shoulder giving him issues and affecting his shot, cause his splits even with that banger of a game, are still abysmal.
The draft is extremely weak and Jakobe was expected to be a top 5 pick early in the season. The high school game has more similarities to the NBA than college and Walter showed creation ability there. If he can put together his shot, which is likely affected due to his shoulder injury we're looking at a good 2-way wing player.

And you very well could be 100% right, but saying a guy is a top 3 in a redraft based off 11 total games played is jumping the gun a touch. Especially when most of those 11 games have looked pretty bad.

Props TZ!

He has definitely caught my attention. He is probably my favorite young proapect on the team right now. Playing really well on both sides.of the court. Plays hard. Brings good energy on the bench (seems like a good teammate). He has impressed me in interviews too. Seems like he has a good head on his shoulders.
He comes from a great family too. His dad was a dog and a hustle player. Anytime you see Ja'kobe dive on the ground for a loose ball or make any kind of hustle play, think of his dad Eddie the Web Walter. That is how is dad wants him to play.
Ja'kobe is a finesse wing with a bag instilled with the values of a glue guy and hustle player from his dad.
That is why he is so well rounded for being so young. He can definitely play some point guard too.
We were lucky to have him fall to us just like we were with Dick.
We just have to keep drafting the best available player at our pick and let the rest work itself out.

I watched Baylor games and also made the Demar comp when he was drafted. Big fan of the kid, the reporting on his "inefficiency" was extremely lazy reporting, he led the team in scoring as a Freshman as the team was offensively challenged and he had a steady diet of tough shots, often late in the clock.

What I like about Walter is that he doesn't rush things. He is calm and composed. Dick is still rushing things more than Walter.
It's like he's a third or fourth year player.
His long distance shot though needs a lot of work.

Smooth is the word that keeps coming to mind, but yeah, that concept of not being rushed explains it too.
I think he’s going to be good.

It's a projection I'm making based on the other rookies I've seen as well. In the past it's been obvious the high school game translates more the NBA. I'm banking on that with Walter.

Hollinger calls 2024 the "upside down draft", where the top 15 are disappointing and the later drafted and undrafted players are shining. He highlights Filipowski, but also discusses Mogbo and Battle.

No word on JKW yet, but it will come.

Is Filipowski the best one to highlight? He's just been... okay

only wrote about second rounders, so no JKW
but no mention of Shead is surprising.

Filipowski is someone I was high on early but then his standing reach, lateral movement, and overall mobility came to light. I don't see him as a NBA level starter later in his career. He's 20 and maybe he becomes an elite shooter but it's unlikely.

Same size, we'll see if he becomes the same quality defender and shooter (rep is there, stats less so). I think he might have a little more on-ball scoring ability, though.
Where's the D?

I have never understood offensive rating. How is Walter that high when he is averaging 36% from the field and 22% from three?
Meanwhile Jaylen Wells is averaging 46% from the field and 39% from three on a playoff team in the West.

A/T? Offensive rebounding and 2nd chance points?

Basically means when he’s on the floor, the offence tends to do really well for that line up.

ortg is offensive rating
it stands for the points produced per 100 possessions
for players, it's points for them. so jakobe would score 111.8 per 100 possessions.
for teams, it's for the team performance.

I think he's going to have a huge year next season. Kid is still really weak, and a summer of off season training is going to elevate his game.
Kid is the most natural scorer on this team IMO. He knows how to create open looks.
