I don't know if a rookie is called a "Big fish" Using them terms your talking about an all star level guy at least....Prolly more means RJ/Dick/9th pick for a star player....If i were to guess ....If its Giannis ...Barnes is on the table...

The wording used and the way Windy was talking about it on the pod it didn't sound like a trade up in the draft.

There are Fleming, Sorber, Kalkbrenner, Broome down the draft.
Maluach doesn't fit the offense of Darko. Unless we are changing our offense, and have a very good ball handler to create lobs (you are looking at Paul, Lowry or someone who can get down hill with a good passing vision). We are in no way make use of Maluach, and Barnes are horrible on offense with a stretch 5 or not (tried Olynyk with him shooting 40% from 3s). Let's not assume we get a stretch 5 and someone sudden become Hali or Siakam on our team.

You line of thinking is way too rigid. It's not always an X = Y situation. There's so many variables in the game of basketball that you're not accounting for.

So cover more variables. How many times have we thought, wish Mogbo can shoot, wish Mobgo and Boucher were bigger to actually cover bigs?

Rasheer Fleming! I would trade Ochai for a big too. I like that Bryant can guard 1-4 (Ochai 1-3) with a 37 inch vertical.

I don’t know if its 75% because Masai only doing it for a top guy and there’s so few available but it looks like its def on the table so i would say less than 50% a deal gets done where its included.

Giannis is probably 1%

Could see Masai back in on KD

But both those guys would want to come so i doubt anything happens

If they really like Fears and see him a franchise PG, i hope for once we are aggressive trading up

Theres a pretty big list of All star level players available that the 9th pick could be enticing to these teams trying to move them.....

Giannis
KD
Booker
Ja Morant
Trae Young
LaMelo Ball
Darius Garland (Prolly not good enough to give up lots)
Zion (Prolly no team touching that but who knows)
Jaylen Brown
Sabonis

I mean its possible Raptors just want to upgrade....Obv Giannis would be the only player you would give up Barnes for in a deal....But if Masai thinks he could make a big 3 of Barnes/Ingram/(Insert one of these names) Who knows what Masai is thinking in such a weak East.....Its really really rare a Rookie coming into thing impacts winning and with this report out the pick could be on the table as a trade chip for majority of these guys...

Booker is already taking meetings with future coaches. Looks like they keeping him for now…

Maybe Ja

I think Scottie, 9 and bunch of futures may do it. I don't see many people offering players for Giannis. Giannis + BI could very well work as BI seems like a taller, better Middleton.

Noa to Washington at 6 seems like something that will happen.

A "bit slow" by which metric? The passing is something that worries be indeed, but to all the high *defensive* IQ things I mentioned you can add he's 18 and played the game for like 5 years which I think its very relevant in this case in that you can expect the feel to get better with experience. But just that an inexperienced 5 did all these things on probably the best team in his league says wonders for his future.

Indeed wrote:The projection would be Mark Williams / Kalkbrenner. NBA player, but I am uncertain you want to pick him at 9. Most likely a few players below would have a better career (and posts with why we passed that guy and draft a 3&D centre).

That is your projection, I project a 7'2 Gasol.

Yah, I like what the new Wizards management has been up to and it seems like they’re placing a premium on size & length.

I think they’re going either Noa or Maluach, and I’m hoping which ever one they don’t pick falls to us at 9

In the NHL any Russian prospect is always linked to the Capitals. Now the Wizards are the French national team.

So Cooper, Harper, Ace, VJ, Kon, Noa, Fears, Tre are all likely gone (with one perhaps falling) leaving us to choose between Malauch, Coward, Queen, Kasp, Jase, Bryant.

I’d personally love if Malauch or Queen jumped into the first top 8 and left us with one of Kon or Fears or Tre (who I think are the least stamped in the top 8)

He's not going #1 or #2. Beyond those picks, these are the SF/PF depth charts for the teams picking between #3 and #8:

Sixers (#3) - Paul George | Guerschon Yabusele | Kelly Oubre Jr | Justin Edwards
- does Philly rank him ahead of Ace Bailey or Tre Johnson?

Hornets (#4) - Brandon Miller | Miles Bridges | Tidjane Saluan | Moussa Diabete
- does Charlotte rank him ahead of Ace, Tre, or VJ?

Jazz (#5) - Lauri Markkanen | John Collins | Taylor Hendricks | Cody Williams
- does Utah rank him ahead of Kon or Tre?

Wizards (#6) - Bilal Coulibaly | Khris Middleton | Kyshawn George | Corey Kispert
- does Washington rank him ahead of Kon, Tre, or Derik Queen?

Pelicans (#7) - Trey Murphy III | Zion Williamson | Herb Jones | Kelly Olynyk
- does New Orleans rank him ahead of Fears, Kon, Tre, or Jaku?

Nets (#8) - Zaire Williams | Cam Johnson | Noah Clowney | Jalen Wilson
- does Brooklyn rank him ahead of Fears, Kon, or Jaku?

Among those teams, I think Washington and Brooklyn are the only realistic options to select him ahead of the #9 pick.
2025 NBA Draft Raptors Big Board (June 2025)
#9 - Maluach | Bryant | Sorber | Essengue | Traore
#39 - Thiero | Gonzalez | Powell | Brea | James | Henshall
Do Not Draft - Queen, CMB, Jase, Demin

not really relevant but a lot of the names we’re bringing up (maluach, bryant, coward) would be nice additions for chicago. i guess i just have higher expectations for the raps despite our record this season. i still lean towards bryant (big wing, 3&d, athleticism) or queen (solid 3rd big, shot creation, rebounding) as contributors on our squad. also some interest in tre (likely off the board), fears, and traore as upside guys. also still down on maluach for our pick as he’s too much of a project for my taste; i think he can somewhat contribute to winning but will be one of those guys who also looks lost, gets played off the court and disappoints a fair amount too.

I think he does, and it looks more and more like he’ll be the pick.

Does anyone have an interview with him? Maybe my research abilities are just subpar but I can’t seem to find one. Preferably in English, but French is okay too.

Noa’s shooting is worrisome but I like him. Not sure about the fit with Scottie though if it doesn’t develop. Then again, that’s assuming we don’t move on from Scottie 2-3 years from now.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars

Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

I really like Kon, but do you really take a guy like him over the youth, experience, length & athleticism if Noa? I think he is gone before the Raps pick. I am completely on board with drafting him if he is there.

He seems like the only pick that could potentially be that raw Tmac type. Some risk, but reward/ potential is high.
