Vesely is built like a Durant or Kirilenko so he can play SF. Doesn't have their skill of course but he's a quick guy with some speed. he did some nice crossovers too which encouraged me more about his one on one game.

He's more of a certainty than Biyombo. He's taller and he's aggressive. First year tell him you won't be part of offense - focus on D and weak side help. Then we'll add you into offense. He'll be a solid player.

To tell you the truth, he reminds me a lot of John Wall in terms of his talent for penetrating and finishing. He is obviously a tier and a half below him physically, but I think a 'John Wall in 2nd gear' type player is still really really deadly. His shooting might be more developed than Wall's at this point also.

"Partizan signed me as a power forward," Vesely said after a recent win over crosstown rival Red Star. "That was the plan. There was an injury to one player (Cedomir Vitkovac), and we had a big hole at the '3,' so coach decided to put me there. After that I got a chance to play small forward I showed I can handle it. From that time I stayed at that position."

EDIT: This guy and Jonas are essentially the same size. And beat out Rubio, Kanter and Valanciunas for the FIBA Europe Young Men's Award. Rubio won this award the last 3 years and Rudy Fernandez won it the year prior to that.

I want Irving Williams, Knight or Walker. These bigs are all looking like a waste of a draft pick. If we need a center/ big body, trade for it. Drafting a big guy and having to go through a year of our commentators saying "big men take awhile to develope" while he plays 10 - 15 mins a night cause he sucks is not something I'm going to be looking forward to.

Princeton? you mean the game he was 1-8 and seemingly was invisible up until the winner? ya right. Or OSU where he was 3-10 with 6 to's? Ya I must of missed those games...

Listen I like Knight's potential but he hasn't shown he's a killer like Kemba has. UConn won every tournament they played in this year with Kemba as their best player in virtually every one, he is without a doubt a better leader than Knight at this point. The fact you keep sighting Knight as a freshmen comes off like its some sort of excuse, there is no evidence to suggest he will grow leaps and bounds over Kemba because he had a better freshmen year, Kemba was groomed in a veteran laden team Knight wasn't.

The fact that I sight Knight as a freshman is to compare two players development at the same age. What Knight did as a freshman far more impressive than what Kemba did as a freshman or sophomore. Freshmen are taking the earliest in the draft for a reason, those who show instant impact on the floor out of highschool have far higher projections than guys who take 2-4 years in the NCAA to develop. Otherwise seniors would be taken first. Sorry , an 18 year old leading his team to the final four in 11 years is a lot more impressive than a guy who is a college veteran taking 3 years to become an impact player. Brandon has shown far more growth at this stage of his age than Kemba. No evidence to suggest that he wont continue growing leaps and bounds and becoming better than Kemba, he was already better this year than Kemba's freshman or sophomore season. I look at the facts. Mateen Cleaves was a "great leader" who led his team to a championship as a senior, where did he wind up?

I was just in the ESPN Hollinger chat and someone asked about Biyombo.

Chris (ATL)

I know this is a playoffs chat, but give me something about BIYOMBO! Is the hype train out of control or is he a legit top 5?

John Hollinger
(3:03 PM)

I saw him at the Hoop Summit, in two practices and in the game. High-energy rebounder and shot-blocker but has limited offensive skills. Also, he might be 53 years old. I can't imagine taking a player like that in the top five, even in a draft this weak. He's going to have a 12-year career just because of how he defends and rebounds, but his star potential is pretty minimal since he can't score.

Sounds like Hollinger thinks he's going to be a career energy player and he pretty much sums up my feelings that we shouldn't draft him top 5.

he sounds about right. He's way too risky as this point for our franchise to take a chance on.

A bone age test was done on Biyombo. The bone in his wrists hadn't fused when he arrived in Spain, meaning he was no older than 17 at the time.

A bone age test only reveals if your plates haven't fused yet. Some people grow even into their early 20's, so it can't tell you exactly how old he was.

Looks like Texas's Tristan Thompson is declaring for the draft. A likely lottery pick

What? I thought he already said he was returning? Anyways it doesn't really concern the Raps as I can't see them picking him as he's a PF and that he's supposed to be drafted 10th or so.

Ummm, I don't know about anyone else, but I'd happily draft a rebounder/defender who will have a 12 year career at #5.

I'm not saying we should draft him. I was just posting the news since he's Canadian and this is the draft thread.

agreed, especially one that can potentially be an elite shotblocker, without being a bad defender. Assuming his athleticism checks out well (and I think it will based on the 5-6 games of his ACB games that I've watched so far), I think at the very least he can have the same kind of impact as McGee/DeAndre have now...and at 18, he has the potential to turn into something much better, considering that he's a better shotblocker and rebounder than they were at the same age--and that's not even accounting for the difference in the level of play between playing at Nevada/Texas A&M and playing in the ACB.
