Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD 2
Is Donovan Clingan being a bit underrated by everyone? I see a lot of Poeltl comps but he's taller, heavier, much longer wingspan. His screens are of higher quality and he is much more of a force as a rim protector. He's exceptional at protecting the ball and not turning it over. All around very smart and efficient player with the Dan Hurley pedigree. In theory he has a higher ceiling than a Poeltl despite role similarities.

Do you think Clingan will be better than a top 10 centre and championship piece?

I honestly dont take him with any of our picks other than #31
I was thinking the exact same thing. Seems slow to gather himself . Make up his mind then moves. Once he moves it doesn’t seem quick or deliberate.
Something about his movements make make wary to take him with the first two picks. However I don’t have huge expectations of the pick
I think people are writing off the draft. The lack of top end talent is apparent. We've been spoiled recently because the draft recently have been top loaded. I see alot of quality players. I also feel of Topic was healthy he was be by far the #1 projected pick. I think the kid is going to be an absolute star. I'm also much higher on Holland than most.
Back go Edey. If we're targeting a center with one of our picks I like Clignan and Missi so much more. Calignan has tons of Poeltl/Kessler in his game, and Missi is a modern rim running big with rim protection, and switchability.

Missi has room for improvement but I don't see why he's ranked mid 1st sometimes. 6'11? 7'2 wingspan, skinny, no offensive skills yet. Maybe I'm missing it but he looks like a backup.

There is no surefire in this draft. It will go down to how the team can develop the prospect they drafted. player selected at the late 1st round may end up being better than some of the lottery picks. The intangibles are crucial IMO.

skinny generally means you have no muscle mass, so if we go by the widely accepted use of the term, you're incorrect. on top of that his frame can pack on even more muscle mass
secondly, he was a soccer player up until just about 4 years ago. this would also explain his build but is also beneficial in terms of his agility, stamina and overall athleticism
lastly, he has flashed some moves while putting the ball on the floor and attacking the rim so he does have some offensive skills that are starting to be revealed
he's a project. the difference between him and other projects is he actually has feel for the game and probably a lot of room to develop given how little he has played basketball.

I would say no as he'll likely be a backup C unless he finds a good situation like Ivica Zubac.

I've warmed up to Castle and Holland. I think their ceilings could be Dwyane Wade and Jimmy Butler, respectively.

Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD 2
I haven't really followed the draft much this season. So, ahead of March Madness, I looked at a few mock drafts as a primer. I saw a mock with Reed Sheppard at 1 and another with Cody Williams - and after watching those guys play full games, I must say they don't even look like lottery type talents to me. I knew this draft was weak at the top, but ay caramba. Castle and Knetch have caught my attention, though.

Knecht is nice, but he’s older. I think a guy like Tucker Devries can do the things Knecht can do but he’s younger by a couple of years if I’m not mistaken.

This draft is very weak.
I too am a fan of Castle and Knecht, but even those two just look like sure-fire role players.
Oh well. Who knows... maybe some of these prospects have a relentless drive, an unparalleled work ethic, and turn out to be stars.

Knecht is Strus 2.0
I'd be content with drafting him with the Pacers pick.

First time watching him today, and his effort level is a big red flag for me. Every thing he does is like half-speed - zero urgency to his game. 0 boards, 0 assists, 3 turnovers, 2 blocks - he gives me wing Bargnani vibes.

He reminds me of Jalen McDaniels at times. That ain't good!
You could tell he was gonna miss that free throw in the final minute. He's not built for those moments.

Re: 2024 NBA DRAFT THREAD 2
Tristan da Silva with a solid game in a loss 17pts 5reb 2ast 3stl (7-14, 3-7).
Kolek 21pts 5reb 11ast 1stl (10-14, 0-1)
Kam Jones 18pts 4reb 1ast (7-13, 4-10)
Jones is pretty underrated as an NBA prospect like Antonio Reeves mostly because they're borderlime tweeners in size and frame. But either or both could be a good scoring combo guard off the bench that someone takes in the 2nd round or as a UDFA.
Averaging 29.1mins 17.1pts 2.9reb 2.5ast 1.2stl on 50/41/72 shooting.
