Re: 2025 NBA Draft Discussion Part 9
I heard that Maluach refused to work out with the Raptors. Makes sense as he has likely got a promise from a team in the top 8 to take him. His visa status being in limbo also may have compelled him to spurn us.
Unless they are high on Derek Queen, it may make sense to trade down if no one falls to us.

What are the odds 9 years later there's a consensus top 8 just like in 16' and Raps have #9 in both scenarios lol
Let's hope our luck repeats.

Hornets are looking to trade down in the draft.
Wonder how the Raps could move up from 9 using RJ. Does Charlotte have any bad contracts?

Could Fears drop to 9? Kinda seems like his buzz has worn off.. Kon and Tre are trending and Bailey dropping out of the top 5 might help us

Their worst contract is probably LaMelo. Miles Bridges is only on a 2/25 so he’s up for free agency soon. LaMelo still has 4 years left, but they most likely want someone to put next to him if they’re trading down.

Givony top 100 big board
I trust Givony more than almost any draft analyst or pundit. Interesting that he has this to say about Ace Bailey.Strengths: Bailey is a dynamic shotmaker with great size. He can score from all over the floor, and he puts points on the board in bunches when he finds an offensive rhythm. He also brings a high level of intensity defensively while making an impact in transition with his strong physical tools.
I think people are overthinking Ace and the discourse has gone too far negative.
Yeah, like Givony said, Ace has solid positional size, has the tools to be a fine shooter and has the length to be a decent enough defender. It's a battle of expectation as he had a lot of hype coming into the year as this T-Mac level guy and he's probably not gonna be that sort of lead player envisioned, so It's all about if he can be agreeable to playing within a secondary scoring role/team structure and will presumably not be a complete backhole when playing with much better players alongside him.
That, of course, is all mindset/mentality and isn't something you can just enter into a database or equation and find a concrete answer. Now he's young but seems like an good kid, so maybe he'll end up finding the right balance to things as he matures. But who you are off-the-court and what your mentality is on-the-court isn't completely correlated, so really who the hell knows there. I suppose this is where team environment and having the right vets does play a part in things.
Some of the criticism seems a bit similar thing to Tre Johnson where he's knocked for his offense/shot selection in College when that's probably not gonna be his role or shot diet at the next level and with the nitpicking, it misses that at the end of the day, he's gonna be an absolute elite 3 pt shooter at the next level with his high/quick release.
Anyway, Ace is probably not gonna drop below the Wiz at six so he'll end up okay, though his management may have cost him some money with the way they handled the whole Philly situation.

I think the Nets snap him up immediately if he's there at 8, assuming they stick there.

What if he and Essengue are there?

Barlow says ATL wants KM so they'll do the deal with TOR at 9 if hes there. But I guess TOR takes him if he falls there

Tough call. I think they do like both a lot but would go Fears. But who knows, maybe they have Essengue really high on their board.

I don’t think there’s any way we pass on him at 9 if he’s there.
Have you heard anything about him refusing to work out for us?

Props to Turbo_Zone for the sig

Isn't Atlanta trying to poach Masai as president?

Cooper
Harper
VJ
top 3 projected.
If BK calls CHA and says hey let's trade so they can grab Ace at 4
4th - Ace
5th - This is where I'd be calling Utah and see if we can package something to grab Tre Johnson

Unless the Nets draft Bailey either by trading up or Bailey slipping ?

Unless the KM talk was a smokescreen to convince ATL to give us some assets for 9th and we move back to grab someone else we really like.
