Man people are gaga over Leonard Miller but there's such a dropoff between Hendricks and him that it's not even funny

I get it, I get it...he'll be a helluva solid player, almost without doubt a rotation player to likely starter BUT this team just flat out needs SOMETHING ELSE, they do not need another "defensive minded" prospect, they need the OPPOSITE, we need a baller that can get buckets (if we're not going to roll the dice on upside as I'd hope with either of Bilal or Sidy).
Everyone projects him to be another Marcus Smart who's wonderful and everything but if you inserted the actual Marcus Smart into our starting line up, we still aren't doing sh*t and we're still going to have the same damn struggles come Playoff time when no one but Pascal can get there own bucket, so please God no to Wallace especially when he's ALREADY dealing with back issues, no thanks. I'd absolutely LOVE him with a second pick but not with what might be our only pick. If we're going guard, I'll take ANY of George, Bufkin or Hawkins over him. All them play solid enough defence with much better potential offensively.
I left out Nick Smith Jr, who I gotta laugh that Givony thinks we'd take but because he's the last person I can see us drafting...I almost have to give it a chance lol because it seems like it''s always the last person you expect us to take that we do take lol. But I've never been on the NS Jr bandwagon even before college started. He just reminds me of Bones Hyland, Tyler Herro, Poole type of player. The several other guards I already listed have fairly similar potential offensively without being a pylon like NS Jr or injury concerns but who the heck knows maybe he has something I'm not seeing, I'm just not really buying what some analysts are selling about him.
He who have long argument have weak argument. When rebuilding on the fly if Cason Wallace is there we'd crazy not to take him. Kid is 19 with virtually no flaws in his game. Hitting the we need that something extra button is pie in the sky crap. At this position if he is consensus BPA the war room will know what to do.
Yeah your opinion means nothing to meespecially when you say something as ridiculous as he has "no flaws in his game" when clearly he's quite limited offensively aside from floaters and open 3s but keep recommending various horrible trades with a bunch of OKC's garbage on the bench, it fits with the usual bland crap you suggest.
Spare me your outrage drama Phil. Raps will make the right selection so if is Cason I'll be back here. You don't Bruno it in this draft. But go ahead and ignore opinions you want to sht on.

Agreed. Whoever drafts him should be looking at guys like Redick to be an assistant, or at least an advisor.

Re: 2023 Draft Discussion Part 5
Personally I like Hawkins more than Bufkin.
Bufkin is nothing special off the dribble but decent reading PnRs. Both guys’ strong suit is shooting but I like Hawkins motion shooting a lot more as a fit with Scottie. The kinda shooter that teams know they can’t give any air space so they can get lost trying to keep eyes on him during all his running and cutting off the ball which also throws them off other guys moving within the offence and of course open driving lanes. I’d really love to get him with a second pick ie/ Lakers 17th (for Gary or Fred).

Hawkins is my guy if mock drafts are to be believed. At worst we save on GTJs extension, and pretty sure Hawkins will be better than GTJ in no time.

Hopefully, we get Steve Kerr to coach us too. I just think Hawkins will have a hard time translating his game if all he does is catch and shoot. No team runs guy around like that other than maybe GSW w/ Steph and he is a true threat because he can create if the shot isn't open.
Going to need a ton of pindown screens for this guy, and let's not even talk about what his defense looks like with him maybe at 190 lbs.

To utilize Hawkins, need screens, passing, unselfishness. Not exactly Raps currently. He's 5 months older than Jonathan Kuminga just for context.

Could Brandon Podziemski = Derrick White?
Tall PG, not a great athlete but can shoot and do positive things on defence. The shot chart and write-up kind of reads like Podz this year:

I mean, yeah you're going to need a coach who doesn't just rely on isos every play and expects guys to find the mismatch within the flow of the offense. Actual set plays are going to have to be run for a guy like Hawkins, especially early in his career. From what I understand he's also got a bit of a mid range game and he's a good cutter and athletic enough to finish well at the rim.
I really wouldn't be too worried about his defense, you can tell just by watching his tape that he's got a lot of dog in him and is extremely competitive, the strength and weight will come as he gets older.
I'll trust this FO to pick the right guy, even if I may not like who they pick they've earned the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the draft. However, I would be ecstatic if they picked Hawkins at 13.

They are completely different players. Not to mention that Hawkins played in the superior conference and was one of if not the best player on the National Championship team.
