George looks like he can operate out of the PnR and has jumper with range out of the 3pt line, that alone should make him compareble to Kyle. The reason why Kyle went so low cuz u knew the offense wasn't gonna be there. I'm guessing the reason George isn't mocked near the higher end of this draft is because ppl know/assume the defense isn't going to be there.
I still don't see why Kyle would be the superior prospect.
I get the HS hype, but a lot of player in this draft had HS hype and will be drafted in the bottom 15.
Calling George a waste of a 1st rounder is a little harsh

George might be a tad bit more athletic than Kyle Anderson (still below average), but then you realize he's 6-7 with a 6-10 wingspan, while Kyle Anderson is 6-8 with a 7-3 wingspan, while having 10x better analytics than George, it just becomes a tad difficult to get excited over a guy like George.

While 40% from 3 on 4 attempts is nice, but what else does he do? He's a good, but not great defender at the college level, he's unselfish and shows playmaking potential, but without a length advantage or the ability to get by his man, how useful is that at the NBA level? I just don't see what his role at the next level is going to be.

Kyle Anderson was a Sophomore when he was drafted.

Therefore comparing numbers isn't a direct read across between the two (just look at Anderson's freshman stats). Slo-mo was a divisive prospect in his draft class, much like Edey in this one. Some people thought he had no chance of guarding at the NBA level. He dropped to the end of the 1st for a reason.

It wouldn't surprise me if George ended up better than Kyle, nor would a complete flameout be out of the question.

Guy seems to have a wide variance of outcomes (i.e. I think he's a high upside, high bust prospect).

At the same age, Kyle was better at everything except shooting. Had much better advanced metrics too.

KyShawn has worse feel on both ends, lower IQ, worse play making, worse rebounding, worse defense, less lengthy, but better 3 point shooting.

Kyle Anderson turned out ok...but he's essentially a bench player, not very exciting. There's no indication that KyShawn has high upside. He doesn't have great advanced metrics, doesn't have great on-court production, isn't athletic. He does have a stand out skill though (3 point shooting), stand out skills are always a good thing to have, but he's gotta at least be average at most other things (which he isn't).

Getting Edey at #19 is a 50/50 shot (or so), but Smith at #31, maybe a 20% chance he is still available.

My dream picks, if we keep #19 and #31, would be Edey and Bub.

I'm not super sold on any other C at #19. If Edey is off the board at #19, I'd consider trading down a bit. Maybe #19 for #25 and #38. Would that be something the Knicks might consider? I'd be more comfortable taking Bub at #25, then use #31 and #38 on two of the following, in no particular order: Scheierman, Bona, Holmes, Frickin' Cam Spencer, Tyler Smith, or whomever Masai (who has far better judgement them I do) likes. Even Mogbo looks interesting if he wants to reach with #38.

I think Edey can be a kinda special, starter quality C. Kinda like Lopez. Maybe Filipowski can turn into Poeltl, but we already have Poeltl. I'd be willing to trade Poeltl to reach for Edey. Beyond that, Bub seems to have 'it', and I hope we find a way to get him. Then give me some 3 point shooting.

Interesting....because I'm pretty sure that time that Masai & Co were spotted supposedly "scouting Bronny" who will only work out with LAL & PHX and Masai has some level of relationship with Rich Paul. You would think our FO would be well aware of that before flying out to "scout Bronny" *wink wink* not *ahem TYLER SMITH who was working out there too and is actually projected within our draft range.

We seem pretty interested...he's not top of my board, personally I like all of Bub, Ware & Collier substantially more but he's still a very intriguing prospect in his own respect. He's at least a player I could feel some level of excitement about moving forward because who knows what we might be able to get out of 6'10 freshman that has legit shooting touch for the perimeter. If they can add some stuff off the dribble over the years, he could likewise helluva player too (I just think he's rawer & has further to go than the names i listed but he at least has comparable potential). I'm not in love with it but I do still like it more than going for a supposedly more NBA ready player. Our franchise flat out needs ways to raise the ceiling of this team.

He also wouldn't be so NBA ready that he has much of an impact on this season which ofc should help improve our pick next year...then in 2-3 years they team could be incredibly well set up to make a serious incline.

This was a rough night for ware.

I feel like Edey is more animated or active on offense than defense. He's going to have to be the exact opposite in the NBA

Edey definitely does shrink the floor in a good way, the roll man has to stay attached to him, it's like he takes 2 down under the basket on every roll

I'm ok with Smith, but unless they're special on offense, I usually like my bigs to be good/great defenders.

With GM's supposedly split on Edey, I think a team that does like him will likely take him before our pick.

Tyler Smith looks like a PJ Washington clone, and he's a better athlete, I can live with that at #19 tbh.

I really like the kids potential, and he seems like a nice fit with Scottie due to his shooting ability.

9th pick + Kennard for Poeltl + 19th + 31st pick from Vecenie’s mock podcast

Raps take Salaun with 9th pick. Yay or nay?

Nay, if you are giving up Poeltl, its to take Edey.

Also, that's just dumb. Poeltl for the 9th and salary filler would be the trade. We keep 19 and 31.

.yuck, that's horrible. I'd much rather the two stabs at 19 + 31 than take Salaun + swapping Jakob for Kennard. Super yuk

In this draft, I'd take my chances with 19 and 31 and hang on to the Poeltl trade chip for something else down the road.
