yeah an NBA ready center to back up Poeltl would be nice.

I doubt we'll get that from the 2nd round to help us next year. It would be nice if one of these guys can become that the year after, which means we need to sign or trade for a stopgap Center for the upcoming season.

I would be surprised if we just trade out of the 2nd given the need for the cheapest contract possible up against the tax. Too me if they do that, it probably means they got a 2 for 1 trade for RJ lined up and they don’t think they will have the roster spots.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Trade up to secure Fleming.

Have people who are clamouring for fleming actually watched him play a full game? This board would turn on him so fast with his lack of awareness and basketball iq

I have. I don't see him as star upside but a useful high end role player coming off bench. Naz Reid type, who wasn't even drafted.

People for some reason want to give up Ochai, who’s become a really good 3&d player for Fleming. Its wild and makes absolutely no sense. The likelihood Fleming becomes close to the level of player Ochai is unlikely.

People just run with the first name someone spoon fed them.

Ochai is due for an increase in pay. We can only afford so many players.

I mentioned him in January. As did others when he was projected early 2nd round pick.

"People just run with first name"? Pure hyperbole.

It depends on if we keep the non-guaranteed contracts of Battle, Lawson and Castleton. I think Battle is a lock, Lawson is 50/50 and Castleton is a probably not. So with CMB we got anywhere from 11-14 guys. The 2nd would be 15, though you could give them a two-way. So got roster room if not luxury tax room.

I would not take Flemming after drafting CMB. I wasn't really high on Flemming to begin with, I don't really understand the hype there

There are still some bigs available, and I hope we draft one

lawson and castleton have no guarantee so those are easy cuts. (also both can't be traded until july 11th and 13th respectively)
battle has $977K guaranteed.

I wonder if it’s to trade up. There are a couple of centers at the top of the second that make sense for us. I wonder if 39+ cash gets us Minnesota’s pick. They don’t need more centers after drafting Beringer, and don’t have minutes for someone like Fleming (Minott and Miller don’t see the floor, and both are arguably better than Rasheer)

Rogers better not cheap out on us; Raptors bring in several $millions by not being a tax team; we should be using some of that to buy picks.

if you go into tax this year, then next year you're a repeater and penalties get worse. i think they start off the year under the tax and if things are looking good, they would be ok making a mid season deal to go into the tax a little bit.

Yeah there is a near zero chance we cut Battle so we are probably at 12 definite spots taken. So even if we made a three for one trade, we have room for our 2nd rounder, though they may decide to only roster 14 guys for the flexibility.

If we decide to keep the pick some guys I like

Kam Jones
Amari Williams
Tyrese Proctor
Sion James
Adou Thiero
Ryan Kalkbrenner
Johni Broome

I can see these guys thriving in the right situation, and being bench contributors. I actually had Kam Jones mocked as a first rounder.
