These commentators have to stop talking so much about things other than the game.

A few good defensive stands by Lithuania but they can't capitalize offensively :(

If I was working on drawing offensive plays, I could think of a few instances from this game that I'd use to put JV in playmaking position. Can't be any worse than an isolation, given the many options that could arise.

I've always thought JV was a good passer when he does it. Just doesn't do it. Could be that he misses the opportunities because of low awareness, but when he sees it he can throw some pretty pin point passes. Remember those passes he used to throw to Lowry in his first couple seasons with the Raps? Lowry would have the ball in the corner, he would pass JV the ball and then cut hard along the baseline and JV would hit him under the basket. That's a tough pass to make to a short Lowry in a crowded area.

Yeah a lot of times JV misses the passing windows. But when he does see it in time he can pass the ball decently. Again, issue for him on all levels is understanding/awareness.

The example you pointed out is pretty much why I'd try to use him more at the elbow/high post like during his rookie year. Flashed the ability to find the backdoor cutter (like he did with Kalnietis earlier in this game). But his elbow touches have decreased across the years, likely due to him not being willing to take a jumper as well as his slow recognition (usually resulting in a reset back to the guard).

But there's a middle ground to be found - the consideration is, is it worth it to run those plays, or are there more efficient options? I can think of a few plays each game that could be replaced. And that's all it comes down to, really. A few adjusted play calls each game. Nothing major.

Good defense against Gasol, then good job defending the jump shot, then no one picks up Pau for the rebound :(

Nice playmaking from Kuzminskas last few trips.

JV gotta pass that one after fumbling the ball.

3 of JV's 5 fouls were touch fouls. Interesting.

I just love how half of JV's fouls every game are offensive ones that normally wouldn't be considered as fouls

D-Mo and Sabonis Jr. with more experience. That will be elite PFs for you. On the other hand, PGs might be a problem. Kalnietis has no fuel left after playing non-stop.

Are some of the staple LTU guys injured, worse than the guys they picked, or just decided not to play?

Kleiza
Motiejunas (injury rehab)
Pocius
Lavrinovic twins?
Jasaitis
Kaukenas

Shooters as well. There's a lot of basketball talent but just little holes everywhere.

Kaukenas is nearly 40 years old, his train is long gone, not NT material.
Jasaitis and Ksistof were not invited I believe.
Kleiza and Darjus decided not to play.

If there's one thing very bad in this eurobasket, it's definitely referees. Most of the teams were more or less complaining about them at least once.
