I'm not really sure what this move represents -- an opportunity to add a relatively young player with some upside to a rebuilding team that can use more assets, or the first of a series of moves made with the hopes of maybe eking into the 8th seed.

But since I don't know, I'm left with the move itself, which is fine IMO. Kleiza does some things well and he's 25. Might have overpaid just slightly, but I'm hopeful that the deal is front-loaded so any potential overpayment won't have long-term ramifications really.

averaged 17.1 points per game and 6.5 boards for Olympiacos.

Those numbers are eerily familiar.

I don't mind this if he comes in to play HARD. To be TOUGH. Basically like a hockey enforcer. That would help our young guys to develop. But it has to be REAL toughness. Not the fake Reggie Evans tough where he's just a nice guy who never actually fouls anyone hard.

I'm glad you finally flashes both your ignorance and your bigotry in one sentence. Idiot, do you seriously think this signing makes the difference between 10th place and 5th? But it is part of laying in a good foundation, with good assets that can be traded, too.

i like how people think this is good signing why didnt any team go after him before he went back to europe. all he wanted was to be on a good team and get paid big money. but no one would give it to him, but BC comes in and gives him what hes asking for while other GM let this so called good player go

Because everyone was hoarding their cap space for this summer. Very few teams even used the exceptions for that reason. Toronto and Detroit were the only teams the spent heavily, and we would have signed Kleiza if we had had more cap room.

Europe was the place to go for big money last year. This year, obviously Greece is a basket case and let Kleiza opt out without a fight.

We signed Turkuglu and would have signed Kleiza if we had the exemption, but we went for Jarrett Jack to improve the backcourt. Jack is a very good signing, and Kleiza will fall into the same category. Guys who will flourish in a bigger role, who have some mental toughness. They are a positive influence on younger players, and in Kleiza's case he has a lot of playoff experience. He was caught behind Melo at Denver, and that certainly dampened his stats.

How do those number translate to the NBA?

An example player who left the Euro league with good number and brought those numbers to the NBA with no drop off???

First of all, I absolutely do not think we'd be able to eke out an eighth seed. I just believe Colangelo might try, and would forsake the future to do so. (I hope this doesn't happen).

Secondly, it isn't better. There's no good reason to try to take a run at anything this year. Even Colangelo should see that it would be futile.

But if you are against signing Kleiza because you think he sucks you are crazy. In term of skills, defense, shooting, age and attitude he is much better than Hedo and for less than half the price as a 25 year old, he is exactly who we needed when we signed an old Turk for twice as much. He would really be a nice addition if the Nuggets can do us a small favor.

But Kleiza can be a nice addition to a rebuild. He fits the age, we have him through the best years of his career, and he will grow with the youngsters.

Also, he has a great personality that his teammates loved. I watched an NBA doc on him awhile back and his teammates both at Denver and Missouri said he was a great guy in the locker room, the bench and floor. Good attitude, hard worker and great teammate.

Funny thing, he was traded for Jarrett Jack to Denver back in 2005.

Excellent signing. I'm so glad that BC spent yesterday dealing with this. I mean. There's nothing else that could require his staff's attention was there? :-?

I know a lot of people hate Turk right now, but Linas Kleiza does not have better skills than Hedo Turkoglu. It's not even close.

We are in rebuild mode, imo. Anytime you lose your franchise guy you're in rebuild mode. But tanking is not going to happen and it takes a long time and offers no guarantee. We'll be a much different team next year. And we'll be a young team. If we can be a different team, a young team, and a team that can grow together and be competitive, and sniff the post season, what's the problem.

Losing is toxic. Let's build with what we have. If Hedo and Jose have to go, so be it. If one of them stay, fine. I think one, of those two should go. Other than that, we've got three lottery picks, and toughness and youth already. We may end up with a lottery pick next year anyway.

But I'm hoping the days of raps being pushed around are over. No more turn the other cheek, timid leadership. I want players a that will talk crap and walk on people. Players who care more about making winning plays than buckets. We build in that direction, I'm happy.

so either this means there is a deal for Turk OR no Beasley in the S&T.... this is getting weird.

For those who are looking for a Center as a FA, there aren't much this year outside of Haywood, and we can't afford him. We will get our C in a trade or using the TPE. The crop of PGs is also weak.

Love it!!

The dude can shoot!

He's only 25.

To build a winner, you need a young group of influential players that Triano can teach his system to and grow together.

Kleiza is a nice SF, and this means Hedo's gone for sure.

I expect us to clean house, go young and keep a few vets like Jack around.

I think he meant that the numbers remind him of Bargs.
