Re: Could/Should BC be exploring a deal involving Baron Davis

We do still have a 14.5 million dollar TPE. The player I'd personally want off of the Clippers is either Eric Gordon, or more appropriately Chris Kaman.

The Clippers will not be moving Kaman in a deal with Toronto, but could possibly in a three-way deal...such as.

Toronto Trades:

14.5 TPE
Evans
Banks
2011 First Round Pick (not protected)

Toronto Gets

Chris Kaman
Baron Davis

New Orleans Trades

Emeka Okafor

New Orleans Receives

TPE

Los Angeles Trades

Kaman
Davis

Los Angeles Receives

Okafor
Evans
Banks
1st Round Pick from Toronto (non protected)

Clippers have to think about this move. They get a more longterm option down the middle, and get out from Davis' contract. Also getting a potential top 10 pick to add to theirs could push them over the edge.

Raptors new lineup

B.Diddy/Jack/Calderon(trade bait--> for Dampier? or Diaw?)
DeRozan/Barbosa
Kleiza/Weems
Bargnani/E.Diddy/Andersen
Kaman/Amir/Solomon

There's Davis on the Raptors with another move yet to follow

Baron Davis would be a top 10 player in this league if it wasn't for laziness and injuries. Though it's due to those things that I would never want to see him in a Raptors uniform.

Do not want this on our cap for the next 3 years
$13,000,000
$13,900,000
$14,750,000
This would be going against what we are trying to do, get a young core that will develop together. Instead this is going to get a 31 year old stop gap Point Guard whose best games are behind him.

It is not a joke. But it is very unlikely. Right now we are a treadmill lotto team. Not bad enough to get the pick we really need and probably a bit far from making the playoffs. With BD/Jack or BD/Calderon we would have on paper a seriously improved backcourt albeit a pricey one. If BD stayed healthy we likely make the playoffs and are better than last year. From day one this was one move that had the potential for really improving the roster. Like JO there is a huge injury history. I do not think we are are going to have any near max players in the foreseeable future plus injury history and near max means now is not the time for this kind of gamble.

If you go by that logic then Jose can go back to being a borderline All Star like in '08. Not happening.

It would be interesting to see Biedrins and Ellis on this current Raptors squad.

Trade Exception for Monta? Calderon and Barbosa for Biedrins and Charlie Bell?

CT: Biedrins/ Anderson/ Alabi
PF: Bargnani/ Johnson/ Davis/ Evans
SF: Kleiza/ Weems/ Wright
SG: Ellis/ DeRozan/ Bell
PG: Jack/ Banks

It needs some more fine-tuning, they could really do with a decent point guard with some height and they need to move one of their bigs. Maybe Ed Davis for the rights to Nick Calathes and a future 1st?

Knights of Columbus, this team would lose just so many games.

Im trying to get quoted in this thread so here it goes
viewtopic.php?f=21&t=1033750&start=180

TPE + Mia 1st for Bogut (After the bucks realize that his elbow is permanently wobblely)

Our 1st Round pick for Rubio

Barbosa+Jack for Josh Smith

Next year

Bogut/Johnson/Alabi
Bargs/Davis
Smith/Kleiza
DD/Weems
Jose/Rubio

This is a bottom 5 team and it would be pretty hard to build a roster more terrible than this. We'll be in the running for the #1 pick guaranteed. TBH, Minny is the only team I see that has a roster as terrible as ours.

Could the Raptors help Denver/Chicago

Post#134 » by 7_ace_7 » Thu Sep 9, 2010 7:18 pm

Just saw the wiretap and was thinking. Maybe the raptors can get in on the action. We could use our trade exception to take on Deng and negotiate it so that we receive noah in a seperate trade. This gives the Bulls the chance to trade for melo.

Just an idea, thoughts?

And the Nuggets get what?

So the Bulls get rid of Deng...by sacrificing Noah? Not happening.

The better question is, why on God's green earth would Denver trade Melo to end up with no Noah?

What do the Nuggets get out of it? AIR?

But the premise is they want to avoid long-term contracts or they'd take Deng.

I think we would get in on something, but as bit players taking on salary for picks. For example, if it helps Denver avoid the tax, we might take on JR Smith if we can get the 2012 Charlotte pick owed to Chicago.
