Third team needs to be involved.

Utah out:
Jefferson, #12

in
RIP, #5

Utah gets a legit sg and the number 5 for Knight or whoever available there.

Detroit out:
#8, Rip, White

in
Jefferson

Detroiut saves a little money and adds a lowpost guy who is without a doubt much better than anyone in the draft.

Toronto out:
#5

in
#8, #12

Toronto moves the best pick and gets 2 picks that are kind of Meh....

Wait what? we get Kanter n 12 for B. Knight n 5th?? is Kanter really ranked that much more valuable/better than Knight?? And with the drafting/acquisition of Kanter that means Calderon ain't going NOWHERE

Or how about the rumored trade of Utah’s No. 3 pick to Toronto for No. 5? Supposedly, the Jazz would draft Kanter, then ship him to the Raptors, who would draft Knight fifth and send him back to the Jazz.

As discussed a while ago, this makes a lot more sense than the claim that Utah is looking to acquire both Kanter and Knight (through Toronto). But there is certainly a risk that Cleveland would take Knight at #4 (even after taking Irving) and trade him.

I think that's why Cleveland is bringing in Knight for a workout and trying to keep everyone guessing about their plans for the top of the board.

I still doubt they'd actually take Knight unless they already had a deal in place, especially if they like Valanciunas as much as it's been rumoured -- Washington won't take a point guard and might snatch up Val right after us if the Cavs don't take him.

I will gladly take Al Jefferson if we can swap Bargnani. Al Jefferson will give us the only low-post C since Antonio Davis. Rumors has it he has kind of a bad attitude and work ethic though, but so does Bargnani so its lateral at least.

Feints within feints within feints.

We are guaranteed one of Knight/Kanter/Valanciunas at 5. Utah and Cleveland can do whatever they want but we're guaranteed whichever one of those 3 that falls to us.

Al isn't a C. The Jazz have the same complaints about his defensive ability as we do about Bargs. Given that he's paid 14 and 15 million the next two seasons, I would definitely want no part of him.

If Knight is there at 5, I'd take him and run.

It makes sense for us to trade up to #3 and take Kanter.

On the other hand, I think it makes sense for Utah to take both #3 (Knight to replace Deron) and #5 (Vesley to replace AK).
I see Utah back to playoffs in a year if they can replace Deron and AK with this draft and add some free agents role players.

That makes sense;
We get our big, they get their guard for less green.

Utah would conceivably include Millsap or Jefferson in the deal w/ Toronto. The Raptors lack a physical big like this & want to improve int.

Dropping down several spots would also put the Raptors in position to select Bismack Biyombo.

I am not sure how that works?
We can eat Millsap with the TPE, but not AlJeff.

Are they implying 5 + TPE for Millsap + 12????

id do that. Id try and trade Bargnani for a PG or go after Flynn. I think though id rather have Brandon Knight.

Wonder if we could pull off a trade not involving the Jazz.

Detroit gets:
Leandro Barbosa (opt-out)
James Johnson
#28 and/or #30
future 2nd rounder (Toronto)

Toronto gets:
Kyle Korver (buy-out, return to Chicago)
CJ Watson(buy-out)
Ronnie Brewer
Ben Wallace
#8
#28 or #30 (Chicago) / or #33 (Detroit) (Nolan Smith)

Chicago gets:
Richard Hamilton

For the record I think TOR would be trading up for Williams.

I think if MIN stays at #2 they're taking Kanter.

Calderon wrote:Hayward didn't show anything in his first season. At this point, I'd rather run with Bayless than take on Harris. A drop from 5th to 12th is pretty significant, Utah would be all over giving us Hayward or Harris to make it happen. Raja Bell really has absolutely no weight in this trade, he's old now, and even if he had something left it wouldn't come close to fitting in the Raptors window.

Season: 48% FG, 47% 3PT

His final six games (when he was finally getting the burn he was due in the post-Deron Jazz scheme):

18 PPG, 62% FG, 58% 3PT

Utah wouldn't even entertain including Hayward in this deal. He's a cornerstone of the future.

Barbosa can't be traded unless he opts-in.

It would be funny with both JJ and 28 landing in the same place though.

for #5 + filler

Jazz can't trade 2012 pick, it's conditional to another team.

I may be alone as a Jazz fan on this, but,

#12
Jefferson
for
#5
Bargs

Seems ok to me. You guys good with that deal?

No I don't think so. That would essentially be trading down 7 spots to swap Bargs for a better rebounding version of Bargs that eats up 5 million more in capspace-- does nothing to address the issues our GM outlined about needing a 5 that can rebound and defend/protect the basket. The only deal that makes sense to me is if we acquire another top 10 pick along with your #12 pick. Then we try to get two of the guys on our board at #5 (perhaps Walker+Bismack, or one of the other guys BC has mentioned in Leonard/Vesely/Burks), instead of just one of them in Knight/Valanciunas/Kanter etc.
