Unless ofcourse a Derron Williams decides to hop on board, but I do agree with your sentiments in that we shouldn't be throwing away all our money at free agents because some of the lottery picks will eventually need to get paid big and we will need it then.

Agreed, and exactly.

Roll with the same roster, but there will be big men logjam. I look to trade one of them for another piece in return, Ed, or Amir, or Bargs. I like Amir though.

If Deron forgoes an extension, and we did happen to luck into Davis, I think the organization could put together a convincing presentation that Deron would be a fool not to consider. we have max money to offer, plus more (after amnestying Jose) to add quality veteran wings. with Davis and Valanciunas joining Amir and Bargnani, we would suddenly have an elite big man rotation for Casey and Deron to work with. it's a hell of a lot better than what Brooklyn will be able to offer, when it comes to talent anyways.

Anthony Davis now leads all college players in PER:

Very few freshmen on that list.

If we luck into AD at the draft you immediately put Ed on the block. Then you roll with Val/AD/Bargs/Amir for a season and see if it works. If Bargs can be a microwave off the bench or if he can hold down the C spot with his new found defensive effort then we have an extremely well balanced frontcourt.

I'd probably look to clear out both Bargs and Ed in that scenario. AD looks to me like a clear-cut franchise player. Bargs will still need to get his 32 minutes a game or his value will start to dip, and with Val and Amir also needing minutes, I just don't see how that can work.

I'd rather move Bargs and Ed upgrade our absolutely horrible backcourt/wing rotation and roll with AD/Val/Amir along with a veteran backup big or two. That would still be a very formidable frontline in a year or two if everything progresses as we would hope.

That was my first instinct but then I figured that Val needs a year to adjust/develop/get his feet wet.

Actually, you're right, if Bargs keeps his play up his value would be at an all-time high and we could probably get a decent piece at another position. Having him come off the bench would kill that possibly.

Ok, if we get AD we put Bargs and Ed on the block immediately. Amir is the perfect 1st big off the bench at a very reasonable salary so he stays.

I agree. But, if you started getting a good idea that all 4 players were going to be good during the season, I think I'de look to move one of the remaining 4 players before the deadline.

And I'de probably just make that decision of who to ship out based on market value, and fit. So any of them could be shipped out imo.

If that did happen and both Davis and Val were as advertised you have to move forward with that front court. And sadly, it seems like Amir would be the odd man out since his game is similar whereas Bargs provides another element. Like Reignman said, you bring him off the bench as a spark plug, and may even be able to play all 3 at the same time if you zone up.

The prospect of bringing in two elite prospects next season has me genuinely giddy. We should do this every two years. :D

I'm a little new to these terms but can someone explain the difference between PER and FIC (front of RealGM page)?

Anthony Davis is tops for both.

Thanks!

Forget FIC, just go by PER if you want a standard. FIC is just a bite off PER anyway.

^ if that was the case Amir would be better suited to come off the bench anyways.
Trade Davis for another pick in the draft get the Toronto point guard.
Sign Batum and D. Williams and we are looking Goooood.

That's insane to me. I assume it's because Davis doesn't seem like a "fit" here, or because people (understandably) aren't expecting the Raptors to get the first overall pick in the draft.

But he's an amazing prospect. Maybe a bit underrated on this board.

I was on the Drummond train but now completely off. I don't think this kid takes basketball serious enough.
