Kelly Gruber is considered one of the great Blue Jays.

(Okay, people sometimes ragged on him in 1992, but still...)

Or his PER shows he has played against a lot of bad teams??? Sorry if he played on Indiana or Duke he would not have the best PER in the country. He has had a great season and that is not up for debate. But people need to realize he hasn't been playing all season in the Big East or Big10. Damn he hasn't even played against teams that come from the Atlantic 10 conference. He played in a very weak ass WCC big factor all you guys are ignoring or not including because it makes his accomplishments a little less impressive

The Zags play the toughest ooc schedule every year due to being in the WCC. He was suspended for the first three games of the season. In his first game of the season against Clemson he scored 13 points. He had 8/8 in 17 minutes against Oklahoma. 22/7 vs Washington State, 16/8 vs Illinois, 20/3 vs Kansas State in 19 minutes, 21.4 vs Baylor in 23 minutes, 21/9 vs Okie State in 23 minutes, 14/7 vs Butler

Clemson sucks (13-18)
Oklahoma sucks
washington state sucks (13-19 lol)
Illinois legit but at gonzaga
Kansas state legit win
Baylor meh, home game for zaga
oklahoma st, butler good teams

I am getting bored doing this, they didn't face any top 10 team all season, like some one earlier posted they had the 70th hardest schedule this season, I for some reason have a hard time believing this is the hardest OOC schedule this season. He had a great season, still do not care for the competition he faced this year. I know who they have played, but telling me he played clemson, wash st, baylor, doesn't mean much. If Zeller played for Zaga and the weak WCC you guys would be calling him the 1st overall pick in this years draft.......

I haven't watched much NCAA this year so I don't know where he ranks, but he looks like a quality 3rd big/borderline starter to me. Am I wrong?

Nope. Olynyk is a very polished offensive player and has drawn comparisons to Luis Scola. His defense will be in question at the next level.

Only thing similar they have is the hair man.
Not the same type of player at all.

About half the people commenting in this thread are categorically wrong and completely clueless.

Just because some people think he is a stud and other's think he will not amount to much do not make them clueless. I have most likely watch a lot more NCAA basketball games than you have, and know exactly what type of conference and players he was up against this year. So for me to believe he will be a bad lotto pick and do not see him having much of a career in the NBA is my opinion. Am i wrong and clueless? NO, only the future will tell and based on my history of watching college basketball and player's potential in the next level I am very sure of my thoughts on him. You have yours, good luck and hope you are right, but I feel that you will be wrong.

Also using past players to come out of the program is a fine tool to look at. It's not much of a conference and they tend not to develop a lot of future NBA players, and do not come here and be like well John Stockton played for Gonzaga come back.

I think you misconstrued my comment. I am certain that you have watched a lot more NCAA basketball games than I have, because I have watched zero, and for that reason I have no opinion of Kelly Olynyk. I was simply commenting on the dichotomy of opinions in this thread.

If Kelly Olynyk is a top 5 pick in this draft then I still feel like the Lowry trade was great for us.

So I'm curious Ivan, where is the Ivan Chiriaev these days? Is he playing ball anywhere?

His short wing span and below average athleticism are working against him but his great shooting, unselfish play and high bball IQ should help. And he already runs the pick and roll Iike an NBA PG which you don't see much in college. I know people love to use the Nash comparison but Nash is/was a way better athlete.

The more I watch him the more I see a lot of Jose Calderon although that's something that about half this board doesn't want to hear. But that's probably the best case scenerio.

I never really understood why people were arguing Pangos was better than Kabongo. Personally, I just never saw it. I still think Kabongo has a shot of becoming a late lottery pick-late 1st if he plays a full season. I can't see Pangos being drafted.....just can't see how his game translates to the NBA level. I felt the same about guys like Brown, English, and Rautins. However, Rautins and Brown did end up getting picked up.

Except Jose actually has some serious length. How about Dickau as a comparison?

I think Duke fan needs to look at the level of competition in the ACC this year.

The ACC is lucky that Syracuse and Louisville are coming to give them a big boost.

Too much!?!

...but seriously, in a weak draft year, there's no way he falls below 7th. Most drafts have him from 13-20, but that's going to jump for sure. He's essentially been a big-man for 3 years, after having an Anthony Davis type growth spurt, and is a much more polished offensive player. Obviously you cannot discount the fact that Anthony Davis has the potential to go down as one of the best defenders of all-time, and thus is the better prospect.

All that said, where does K.O. end up?

HOLY ****. THIS GUY IS A **** WIZARD.
