Raps season opener gets terrible ratings (54,000 viewers)

The leafs are a great young team, tonight so far aside.

I see alot of complaints, but we as a relatively large Raptors community should come up with ideas to get the fans back.

First I suggest telling everyone Don Cherry is an Assistant GM, we never see them anyways. Tell them Stripes is GSP, he took that gymnastics training seriously and got a second job.

Not a surprise. There's no exciting players/allstars on this team. No one wants to watch Rudy and Demar jack up a billion mid-range shots with no ball movement.

how can we have the busiest fan board but other teams get 10x the television ratings (adjusted to market size)?... seems somewhat bizarre to me.

Unfortunately most Torontonians expect the Raps are probably tanking for Wiggins. But in reality we're aiming for the best record in franchise history.

1. 54K is more than just "this team isn't that good". It means generally people in Canada don't enjoy watching the game of basketball when anything else is available to watch.

2. This team isn't expected to do anything.

3. Inconsistent broadcasting/channels.

I'm sorry, I don't buy the inconsistent channel stuff. It takes literally 10-15 seconds to flip through the different sports stations.

If someone wants to watch the Raps game they aren't going to turn on sportsnet, see the games not on and then decide they don't want to watch anymore...they'll take 2 seconds and check TSN and/or TSN 2.

A season opener can't even get on the main channel.

For comparison they should at tonight's game on TSN to the home opener and see what the results are.

I think they are kind of intertwined, keep the game on one channel and more people will have it thus increasing viewership in general.

Jays: all games are shown on Sportsnet which is a basic channel
Leafs: TSN, Sportsnet, CBC all basic channels
Raptors: TSN2, NBA TV Canada, Sportsnet One which are extra channels

Should not be compared.

Pretty much this.

Not to mention that there is hardly any promotion for Raptors games, no pregame show, no post game show etc. Five seconds after the game ends they cut to something else.
