Tbh I disagree. There needs to be human judgement element to the call... The shot was clearly not gunna have a chance to go in, was way to wide... The SMU player was prolly expecting an airball and going for the rebound.

It was a bad call. It has to have a chance to go in. It wasn't near the cylinder.
I'll sorta echo what Jack was saying right after the game regarding the refs and how they officiate. If they see Alford hit 8/10 they are probably thinking that this shot is going to get in the cylinder area at least. Maybe it's not the best way to reason your officiating as a ref, but the kid was wet. Officials feel out the game as it goes and make calls based off what they see unfolding in front of them.
Entertaining game either way.
It's just that some refs need to learn their place.
The ref that called the goaltend was the one 30-feet away form the basket, while there was a ref 5-feet from the basket that didn't call anything.
There's like an unwritten rule among the ref fraternity that you don't contest another ref's call.. happens in the NBA all the time where the ref with a horrible angle feels the need to make a call even though there are 2 other refs with better views of the call.
