I'd strongly disagree, but maybe my respect level for the posters here is alot more than your own.

Somehow I'm not surprised....

Became a big Raptors fan about 2 years ago. Joined this forum in July. Read the forum almost daily. I'm not a stats guru (yet) nor am I an expert on the Raptors (yet) but why such hate for JV by some posters? I get it that he isn't amazing on defence (but improving), although he is tied for 2nd place for all time Raptors double doubles. When you post hate for JV it just encourages more hate for the others like: JV sucks ... oh yeah Ibaka sucks even more or Casey is crazy or KL sucks or DD sucks or (lately) the bench sucks. Yes, the players should be held accountable, but is it really necessary to display such hate? What really bugs me, is that when JV has a great game, the JV haters say "great - that improves his trade value". So if OG or Norm or Poetl or KL or DD has a great game, does that improve their trade value too? If any player improves their skills - more power to the Raptors - why would we want to trade them? All teams have their ups and downs and this is a TEAM sport. In my 2 years watching the Rap's I'd say they are definitely improving. The starters are really starting to gel this year and the bench up until recently, has been phenomenal. And who would have thought OG would have come so far so fast - wow! Masai's "culture reset" is becoming more evident as the year progresses. Cheers ...

Welcome to the Raptors forum and thanks for sharing!

I would take issue with the idea that my post was inspired by or attempting to spread "hate" for JV. It was qualitative analysis of JV's defense against Phoenix meant to underscore its impact vs. his offensive contributions (i.e. 47 vs. 20/10). Also, I think there's plenty of room in this forum to discuss the good and the bad of our team, its players, coaches, management, etc., without crossing the line into blind hate or narrative arguments. As long as you're backing up your opinion in a well thought out manner, it's all good IMO...even if you're dead wrong.

Personally, I love it when other posters put effort into analyzing niche aspects of the team, good or bad. I appreciate it even if I don't always agree. The feedback from my post has been disappointing. I sincerely hope others won't get discouraged from doing similar deep dives in the future because frankly it's this type of analysis that keeps me coming back here, and ultimately why I chose to contribute this in the first place. I legitimately believed other fans would be interested.

FWIW, I don't hate JV. I don't think he's useless. I think he's overpaid and probably shouldn't play some nights when the match up is bad or he's just not getting it done defensively. Other times, we should play him more like on Monday against the Clippers when he was CLEARLY THE BEST PLAYER ON THE FLOOR.

So the OP….

- Does a deep dive into game footage
- Issues a disclaimer about the potential flaws with the analysis
- Compiles some great, transparent analysis

And the response is to **** all over it and call them a hater? Jesus, people.
